Best/cheapest place to buy genuine Bilsteins & Eibach Pro

Morning all,

Decided to refresh the undercarriage on the E86, so looking for the best place (cheapest!) to buy genuine Bilstein B4’s and Eibach Pro springs. I will also be buying new top mounts. From what I’ve read, there are some scare stories about fake Bilsteins via EBay etc.

This seems to be the ‘go to’ set up for many, with a good compromise between looks and Ride quality? But any views welcome.

This car isn’t going to get tracked, so absolute performance isn’t what I’m aiming for, hence I don’t think I need to go for B6’s or B8’s.

From what I’ve read, I need to buy the Eibach Pro kit for the 3.0si roadster, as the E86 kit lowers the rear less than the front, don’t want a ‘face down arse up’ stance, ...not from my car anyway!

Any input welcome

The 'face down, arse up' stance is called rake, and you want a little of it.

I'm not sure how much the individual parts for B4 and Eibachs are, but you can get a full B12 kit (springs & dampers) from DC Performance for about £750 or from Autodoc in Germany for £680.

Thanks for the link, I think the B12 uses B8’s though, which I’ve read give a pretty firm ride even with the Eibach springs.

I don’t see too many cars with ‘Rake’, most seem level front to back, or is it just that the rake is so minor to be visibly negligible?

I would also have thought that Rake would add to the possibility of the rear end breaking loose... or is that the point

Sorry, no direct experience as I went straight to B16 PSS10 coilovers, on an M, but thought that these sources may still be the cheapest for the parts you do actually want

It's minor, but it's usually there - supposedly to help underfloor aerodynamics as the slightly wider/higher gap at the back reduces air pressure and 'sucks' the car to the ground (probably only 1 or 2kg of downforce, but it's better than the other way around).

You can just see it in this stock photo (you can see the increasing gap underneath using the shade/light)

...but more pronounce when aftermarket suspension fitted

Did they turn up quickly? All look to be genuine?

Bought Eibach Pro Kit, Bilstein B4s, Lemforder top mounts and Eibach Spacers on autodoc.co.uk (use a phone app for more discount). They were the cheapest, and all parts turned up a week or so later.

Unfortunately they didn't have Lemforder rear top mounts in stock, so order those on eBay for around £15, I think.

Hi, This company’s prices seem to jump about all over the place.

Their rear shock price has gone up to about £70? In the a couple of weeks.

Use their app. App varies between 24-26% discount, website is always =<22% I think.

Good luck.
