Best Car Driving Simulator?

I don't care about platform, Sony, Microsoft, PC etc... what's the best/most realistic car driving sim with the best choice of cars? Not F1 stuff, general on the road driving/racing/wrecking/whatever...

you have the console stuff (gran turismo for the playstation and forza for xbox)

then there's a few for pc that are road based (driving simulator 2011)

Playstation 3, GT5, Playseat & Logitech driving force pro wheel (or Logitec G25 is even better).

I spend hours hooning round the Nurburgring- loads better than most arcades. GT5 is the most realistic driving simulator ive played. The feedback on the Logitech wheel is great even tho its an older model, gives you a judder when you hit a kerb/ car, goes light when it starts to slide on you. I grabbed my wheel & seat, both practically new for about £120 quid on the bay...that was 4/5 yrs back now. Epic purchase!

If you're talking xbox it has to be Forza. Nothing else comes close. Never payed anything with a seat / wheels / pedals though, so can't comment on that set up.

Currently playing Grid 2 on the PS3 - pretty good, but not as good as Forza. Gran Tourismo is however widely acclaimed as the best driving simulator bar none... It is such a good simulator that I have previously found it really quite hard to play just with the controller though.

iRacing on the PC is supposed to be the dog's - but that's tracks & race cars rather than road cars. Set it up with multiple monitors and a wheel, and then either drive against the computer, yourself, or online rivals.

Still like PGR & Forza on the Xbox360 (and got Forza5 pre-ordered for my XBONE). But whilst a console/PC let you learn where tracks go, they're nothing like driving in real life.

OK - so hoping I'm not the only one who's picked a Z4 in Forza to match the one on their drive..? :D

For consoles, really boils down to Forza (XBox) vs GT (PS). I have both and would say that Forza wins for realism, although it's far from a perfect simulator... whereas GT wins for graphics.

I prefer Forza.

Gt5 on ps3 jas really good realism for a console.
Years back Live for Speed was the best pc sim - road cars in free version and a lot of different cars in full version. Plus unlimited, realistic way of setting up a car with almost every aspect of suspension tweaking.

I enjoy Gran Turismo 5 & I like using the cockpit view of the Z4M Coupe/E92 M3/Audi TTS as they are brilliant replicas of the real thing cockpit wise.

So many cars to choose from & they feel pretty fast once tuned up, I wish I had a Xbox as the majority of people say Forza is miles better. :driving:

I am in the Foza camp. Best all roumd package having played both.

Oh - and the is a Z4 Forum team and garage in Forza too ;-)

Yeah, think my Z4 and maybe something else are tagged in there for sharing. Can't remember though and haven't played for ages as the Xbox is now in Wee Bing's bedroom :(

Not expecting much agreement, but I love TDU2.

No race track's, as such, just freedom to drive around a virtual realish, world map of Ibiza or Hawaii in fantastic cars and enjoy amazing scenery.

Best bit is driving off road across Ibiza in a Pari Dakar Car and playing amongst the dessert rocks.

Shame it nearly bankrupted Atari due to bad reviews, so I guess no TDU3.

GTR Evolution for the Pc.It's quite an old game but it's one of the best driving simulators.Graphics are a bit dated, but if you get a force feedback wheel you will be playing it all winter! :driving:
Console games to me are aimed for kids, too arcadey gameplay.

Plus there are Z4's !

I like GTR Evolution with a Logitech MOMO force-feedback steering wheel. You can download loads of extras including tracks etc. from http://www.nogripracing.com/index.php It has a very good credible Nordschleife which is great for practising and learning the track layout.

I went out and bought GTR2, when it came out. For the sole purpose of learning the Nurburgring, as I had a visit planned that year. Have to say I was a little disappointed. Guess nothing can compare to the real world. I expect the game has improved much since then too.

I did the same before my first trip. Absolutely nothing compares to the real thing, because the gradients of the Nordschleife just don't get replicated, nor do they show properly with in-car video. However, I found it great for learning the layout and I found that I knew my way around at that first visit and was never disorientated or "lost" which gave me a real head-start and allowed me to drive with much confidence. I've done hundreds of laps since then and I still practice before and after each visit.

GTR Evolution is better than GTR2 but it is a few years old now. I'd like something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOzyqhhKTrY but my wife would tell me to "grow up!"
