Best breakdown cover?

Morning z4 people!

I am in the need for some breakdown, especially as I'm going to be driving up to scotland for the christmas break... 900 mile round trip!

So was wondering, is there a certain company I should go for? Or not go for?

I was looking at the regular breakdown cover + home start + drive you on to your destination package thingy.

Any opinions would be great!

I'm with GreenFlag. Have used them a couple of times over the years and both times they were great though ended up on the back of a truck. Second time was a Sunday afternoon. They took us home with the car and then picked the car up next day and took it to the garage of my choice.

Check with your bank account, with Barclays I get free breakdown with the RAC, have used it a coupe of times on the Figaro with a flat battery and always been out within an hour......

Greenflag free with Natwest, including European cover. Excellent deal I would say.

Get full RAC included with Co-op bank.
Great deal as includes travel, gadgets and some other stuff too.

Surely when these are provided by the bank they are never free but under accounts where you have to pay a monthly fee. That's the case with my bank LloydsTSB.

Got AA cover including home-start and relay for 20 something quid with the home insurance, yet to use them.

Go via 'Topcashback' website - will get a big discount. AA currently £70 off, RAC £60 off, Green Flag £50 off, depending on what plan you go for.

Will need to register first (no cost), but this only takes a few minutes and after that you can start saving. So far this year I've had £230 cash-back, from various purchases. Just about buys me one rear tyre for the 535, which are getting low again. :(

Join on the spot if you breakdown. It's no as if you are going to need it.

Failing that join the AA like I did for a month (Relay £7.40 per month) and cancel when you get back.

if you join on the spot surely they have a clause to stop an instant call out

I'm sure you can phone them up and when they come out you join.

But to be sure sign up with the AA on a monthly basis and cancel upon return with no penalty. I did it when I went to collect my new car from North Yorkshire. For £7.40 I had piece of mind for both cars on a 600 mile round trip.
