I've attempted to be fairly green and buy rechargeable batteries. Despite looking after them the little charger we had kept indicating they were failed after a few charge cycles and it was becoming bloody expensive. It's fairly well documented how they grow crystals internally and go short circuit and its possible to zap them to destroy the crystals and revive them. I didn't fancy building a box to zap them and went looking for a better charger conditioner and found a really good one at Maplin. It's capable of "refreshing" the batteries and do far it's been 100% successful at bringing the supposedly dead ones back to life.
So if you're having troubles with short lifetime on rechargeable batteries give one of these a go, it's flippin' brilliant!
