Belts / Pulleys / Tensioner Replacements

Have a 2010 E89 23i 2.5L 61K miles.

When or how frequently should the Belts / Pulleys / Tensioner be replaced?
Should the AC belts etc be replaced at the same time?

Also, any advice on the timing chain?

Thanks!

I have a 2.3 as well and replaced the belt at app 60k.
To my knowledge BMW do not specify a specific interval
For peace of mind I ordered a new belt and pulley but only fitted the belt as the original pulley was still running smoothly and without play.
Check what numbers are on your current belt as there are two different lengths for the 2.3 !

The timing chains on the N52 are apparently good for >300k kms

Thanks Oilyfingers,

On my other cars (3-series, Saabs etc) i normally do things myself. On this one I prefer not to, except for the basics like oil changes, filters etc. on a regular basis.

Thanks for the mention of 60K miles.
I will arrange it, although I'm fecked because I live in Ireland and the costs are not great.

The last time I took the car to the Zed Shed via the ferry from Dublin to fix a roof, it was cheaper and better because nobody here has that expertise and I preferred someone knowledgeable. Zed Shed fixed that and another problem within 2hrs or less. Back the next day.

I may do the same again, although i will have to book accommodation as well.

I just don't know who I can trust can in Ireland with the baby who won't fleece me.

As an example, my 3-series is still stuck in the mechanics for 4 weeks for a reluctor ring replacement that turned into a drive shaft replacement at circa €950. That's probably before VAT as well.

Now I will have to deal with the other side as well.

Thanks for the info again. I do understand that rubbers etc wear out over years and preventative maintainance is good/best.

Just wondering what the best option is here.
To everyone:
If I say "change all front end belts and pulleys" - what does that entail? Or should I be more specific?

There is only one belt and the only pulley that might need changing is the tensioner pulley
Changing the belt was straightforward, you only need to remember the belt routing.
If I remember correctly you also need a big torx bit and a 6mm (?) drill to take the tension off the belt and secure the tensioner.

I had a 9-3 Saab as well on which I did the maintenance myself and replacing the belt and pulley is pretty similar
