wow, oh wow... what a race bit hard on Kimi but for once the GP lived up to expectations... will be watching the highlights later just to check the result again :)

Yeah, looked dodgy on the last lap, but good result. From the way they were slipping and sliding I take it Hamilton could've come in for tyres and still won, right?

and know Ferrari International Assistance has come to their rescue again, stripped hamilton of the points, he has been demoted to third :headbang: ferrari get away with a pit violation in the last race and know this, does my head in :x

FFS!!! That is ridiculous...

The FIA is a disgrace to the sport... they are ruining it!

This was posted on one of the F1 forums... discuss...

Yes, Hamilton does deserve the penalty he got. Yes, he did gain a racing advantage by cutting the chicane. Yes, he did give Kimi the position back, but he did not give up the advantage he gained by cutting the chicane.

Entering into the chicane Kimi braked earlier than normal, this is because of the rain. Hamilton saw the early brake and tried to take advantage of it. Hamilton braked late going into the corner closing into about a 1/2 of a car length behind Kimi.

In the middle of the Chicane Kimi closed the door on Lewis, using the racing line, like he is allowed to do.

This is where people get into a major controversy.

Im gonna try to explain why what Lewis did gave him an advantage.

If Lewis would of let off and braked and stayed behind Kimi, then coming out on to the front stretch Kimi would of been able to jump onto the throttle easily giving him about 2-4 car length advantage of Lewis.

People are saying that cutting the chicane was Hamilton's ONLY option. They are making it sound like these cars do not have brakes on them anymore! No, he DID have an option, and that was to let off/use the brakes and follow Kimi out of the chicane.

This is what Lewis did.

Lewis got as close as to Kimi as you can get. Lewis being Lewis decided that he should cut the chicane.

Now normally this would not be an issue if he relinquished his advantage, he did not do this.

When he came side by side with Kimi he left off to let Kimi by, but as soon as Kimi got by he tucked in behind him, a little bit less than 1/2 a car length. This allowed him to set up a pass going down into the first corner. Now if scroll back up and read what i posted earlier, than you would realize that Lewis gained a huge advantage by cutting that chicane.

Instead of being 2-4 car lengths behind Kimi if he would of followed him into the chicane like he should have, Lewis gained an advantage and was only about 1/2 a car length behind kimi going down into turn 1, thus giving him an advantage.

I hope this helps people understand the reason why Lewis got the penalty.

Pure rubbish, FIA is a disgrace.

...any other time, all you have to do is give the position back.
Lewis was right on his tail before the chicane, so what is so wrong being on his tail after the chicane?
Where's the advantage?

Well I'm all for Hamilton winning the championship and yes the FIA are a joke applying arbitrary decisions to situations, but IMHO the decision is correct. Hamilton may have let Kimi past but he was so close to his tail that he never really gave the gained advantage back. He should have stayed back longer and further and passed him after the next corner. He was clearly faster and better in the conditions.

Its the way they keep making inconstitent decisions thats gets to me,, in the last race Ferrari got away with a pit violation, thats states clearly in the rule book, that "you must not exit your pit and cause danger to another driver", but because they have a so called automatic system (everyone has a button they press, when they have finished) and not a lollipop man, they get away with it. Hamilton who was clearly faster at that point, tried to overtake got pushed on to the slip road, gained advantage, then gave the place back, then overtook him. When Charlie Whiting was asked what he thought, he had no problem with it, and he is in charge of race control.

I know that there is some patriatism going on here, but you just never seem to get fair play where Ferrari are concerned (Ferrari means big bucks in F1) so the cynics are going to have a field day. Schumacker won more than one F1 title with the help of the FIA, and here we go agian,,,,

Rant Over

Glad to see I'm not the only one cheesed about the decision..

Hamilton hit the entry to the chicane the same time as Kimi (If not slightly in front as Ron Dennis says) he cut the chicane to avoid a collision. Either way he gave the position back to the point of physically moving behind Kimi. If Kimi hadn't moved left he would have kept the door shut not allowing Lewis to outbreak him again!

I second the inconsistency.. Kimi Raikkonen hiitting Adrian Sutil and denying Force India a podium in Monaco also comes to mind (without penalty of course!)

I just hope the frustration doesn't get to Hamilton.

Rant over.. sorry all!!

He gave the place back at the chicane, thats normally all fine but not this time !
FIA decisions are sometimes so wrong..........

Maybe the FIA are Ferrari ?

I hope this is appealed by McLaren....

Its a tricky one, yeah maybe he did gain a small advantage but lets be honest Kimi then overtook him again .. and I don't believe Lewis was anywhere near him when he crashed in the wall!!

Lewis went by on the brakes (after giving up 6kph), the Ferrari had no grip, so why punish Lewis, he did all he was supposed to do, what are the FIA trying to do stop anyone taking any risks, its the reason F1 has been so boring in recent years...

Oh well!!! They have appealed, but it wont amount to anything...

I think that might be the last F1 race I watch. It's disgraceful what decisions the FIA make. Everything seems to be for the benefit of Ferrari. Pathetic.

+1

I've just managed to watch the highlights knowing that there was a controversial penalty applied to Lewis. I finished watching and thought 'where was the problem?' Just another example of Ferrari bias IMO. I doubt I'll watch any more F1.
