Can't see any similarities ...

Me neither

The minister said the "Homeland" depiction would have an impact on tourism, I think I'll ask the kids if they'd like to go next year after showing them the 2nd link.

Who the hell would go to Beirut for a holiday, i bet the tourism minister really has his work cut out trying to promote a bomb site.

When i opened the second link and saw the picture...i thought the story was going to be about Toxteth, Brixton or Moss-Side.......

IBeen to Beirut quite a few times on business, the chic's & food are both delicious.

It's not Shangrila though don't believe all you see on TV of 24/7 bombings & shootings - It haqppens, though as Hunter mentioned remember what happens in the UK

like everywhere, always worth knowing some local people and making sure you don't stray into the wrong quarter

Visited Beirut in the early 70s, only for a couple of days but really had a great time, fascinating place, great food and very friendly people, but this was before all the troubles.

One of my apprentices went there on tour with BARLA earlier in the year said it was a great night out ,but didnt enjoy the food !

Gave a big lecture in Beirut about 4 years ago.
Bomb holes in some buildings, dock full of stolen cars and plenty of trouble if you wanted it.

The other side was an amazing European style of life, which I really enjoyed and you could have been in any one of a hundred nice places.

Guess as the client put me in a 300 year old palace instead of a hotel, it was a bit difficult to be sure I was getting the proper local experience.

Would pick it as a family holiday destination - I think not...
