went to my mates the other night for a little house party, since its a trek from mine and i was staying over i decided to take the zed.well long story short, i left a few cans of john smiths in the boot as you do!! a few days later i opened my boot to find that one of the cans had a nice hole in the side and had soaked the entire boot compartment (looks like it sprayed everywere).

so after soaking up as much as possible with some old rags, i left it for a few more days before having a second look.. this time mould had formed and now its covered in spores and smells  and still soaking .

have any of you guys got some ideas of how to dry it out????

No idea I'm afraid... I would say soap and water... leave to dry... rinse and repeat, but I'm no expert.

would be the same as in removing it from a carpet or upholstry right? Maybe this might help? http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/home/stain-buster/stains-beer-may07

thanks for the ideas guys. think the carpet will be going for a steam clean and a few hours hair drying the boot, and then fill the car with some of those moisture traps

Remove it all form the car to thouroughty clean it, dry and refit after you've also cleaned the paintwork, battery box, etc. Cleaning in situ is a waste of time as it will be soked into the backing and onto the pain and in every crack and crevice.

Decision then if to go for a replacement carpet as suggested (which I'd probably do)

Mate of mine a few years ago spilt a bottle of milk - never got rid of the smell and sold the car at auction

Homebase etc sell anti mould spray - I would do as you say and deep clean it, then spray it with anti mould spray

left the boot open all day to let it air out. also took all the plastic trim off and gave it a good scrub with mould cleaner, also gave the carpet a good rub with a brush and hoover and now it smells alot better :) i lifted the carpet and most areas are dry, looks like most of the beer has leaked over the battery box so was easy to soak up and the rest of the carped got off with a bit of surface spray.

il give it a few more days and see how it goes before removing the carpet. ive experienced refitting the back when fitting my dice and i would not look forward to the whole carpet.

thanks for pointing me to the replacement carpet 'psy' but im hoping it doesnt come to it.
