So a good friend is stuck for a car for 3 days ,hes asked if he could use my Z im undecided what to do .
I dont use my Z much its a second car so its in the garage a lot of the time as a rule i never let anyone drive it and never have and ive owned it from 6 months old .
i also not too keen on his driving ,but hes a friend for 20 years and hes in need for a few days
He will pay insurance and fuel
:headbang:

Won't it be much cheaper (once he pays for short-term insurance) for him to hire a car for a few days?
You can get 'premium' cars for £50 a day.

If he's a good friend then you must have already mentioned his driving standard to him?

I regularly go driving with a group of friends, and there's only one I wouldn't lend my car to...and he's been told as much...as he likes to 'take the racing/straight line' everywhere, whereas anyone who's been on a hoon with me will have noticed that I tend to stay in one lane unless I'm overtaking.

Tell him to hire a car. If he's known you for 20 years he should know how precious the car is to you , shouldn't have asked and not much of a friend if he takes offence at being told NO.

As you have indicated ,your not keen to let him borrow your z,so the answer would be sorry no.

+1. Hiring a car is so cheap and easy, he doesn't NEED your car

+2. I have lent friends my daily before now, I run sheds as dailies, but not my Weekend car. That's my P & G. If something, even minor, went wrong it would cause so much angst it's just not worth it. Hire car.

Only one of my mates has ever driven my Z4, but he's a motor trader and I've driven loads of his over the years so I couldn't really say No! Plus I don't have concerns about his driving, and I was in it with him anyway. But nobody else has, and nobody else will!

Luckily my daily isn't a company car, although I would still be selective about who I lent that to.

In the OP's position I wouldn't do it, and if my friend was put out that's too bad - imagine how the friendship is going to end up if you agree and it all goes wrong!

When push comes to shove if he took his ball because you said no which one would you rather loose......the car or the friend?!

 absolutely no , on any level  :P it's not even up for debate :P id pay someones taxi fare first 8) unless i'm behind the wheel the care stays in the garage :|

I wouldn't even let PVR drive my car, and it used to be his...

The only person I've offered a drive to was my Dad, and he declined. So a mate - no. That said, Stuart Truman let me drive his up and down the cheddar gorge, which is the reason I eventually switched to an M. So I might let a really good friend that I trust have a go with me in the ca, but I'd never wave them off with it.
