Becks Beer

I bought a pack of Becks recently and I’ve noticed it’s now only a fairly normal 4% strength - I seem to remember they introduces their Vier Brand a while ago as an alternative lower strength tipple.
Has this been sneaked in under the radar?

Has this become their normal now?

probably the norm. if you think becks is bad don't buy a pack of stella artois - the days of it being 5.2% are long gone, its 4.6% now.

no idea, never liked Becks..much prefer a Viru or Kronenbourg :D
Gnats piss. I thought Zedders would be real ale people. Y'know hairy chests and smoking pipes...... and that's just the women.

Stella is just filthy chemical soup.
If I drink lager it's Warsteiner. Real ale and it's got to be either Duvel or Westmalle Trappist Dubbel or Tripel. FTW

There are plenty of good beers about but my point was that Becks, and it seems others, have reduced the strength of their brew without a word to the customer!

Just picked up a pack of 10 x 440ml of Shipyard IPA for £10 at Sainsburys. It's an American IPA brewed by Marstons and very quaffable indeed especially at that price. :D

Yep can’t beat a pint of pedigree, landlord or tribute. No hairy chest required, pipe optional :D

Oh I like weissbier too, the British are incapable of making a decent lager, so if it’s out of a bottle it’s Corona Extra Imported

At least you got some - you can't buy Becks in the Channel Islands! Locals have long memories over there.

I prefer my beer darker though I tend to drink more wine than beer these days.

Still enjoy a pint of Youngs Special, Fullers ESB or Bass now and again though.

Yes, sadly the 4% version appears to be the standard (tax friendly) uk version now. Basically it has ruined what, at 5% used to be an excellent beer, it was still good at 4.8%… but the latest 4% version is like putting a Mercedes badge on a Dacia. If you look online at reviews pages you will see hundreds of disgruntled (former) Becks customers bemoaning the arrival of this “dishwater”.
