Just found a long lost pic of my smart roadster-699cc turbocharged 3 pot engine & 6 speed sequential gearbox.
I ran this for 3 years/30k miles with no issues, though they can be horrendous-the engine lives under the cargo floor in the back & it's difficult to see it let alone work on it!

I always fancied one. Brabus version with special wheels looked great. Aren't they chain driven?

I had these wheels as well, also had it remapped to increase boost pressure to 1.5 bar
Transmission was by drive shafts-the camshaft was chain driven though.

I looked at the Brabus coupe version sometime ago as a potential Z3 replacement as I think they looked quite smart and unusual but never found one locally in good enough condition, secondhand prices seem to hold out well.

Very Smart indeed. Had one living on the drive next door for a few years. Always liked the looks and the handling. not the box though.

Agreed, the cog swapper was very much an acquired taste
Imho the car would have been much better if it came with a tradition transmission with a clutch pedal, as it was the robotised manual was neither one thing nor the other (it was slow at changing as well)

Spooky coincidence had a Smart Roadster chasing the Zed on the way home from work today. I pulled over and let him go. Made quite a nice noise.

Some people have likened it to a baby 911 sound (if you squint)
