Well Z4 Forumers ..
I'm on my way "over there" !
SWMBO and the "Kids" (not exactly kids ..25 and 23 )
Booked what will surely be our last Family Adventure.
Well overdue I might say..
A tour called "European Splendor"???
Now I understand many of you here are well seasoned touring along our route ..
which somehow takes us from Rome, up the boot and into Switzerland.
A quick exit into France and the a boat ride over the Channel into London.
But remember ...
We are Colonials and surveying the Old World is not in our nature unless there is a World War involved.
So a Tour was deemed the best way this time.
Leave here on July 2 ...15 Daze on the road ..
And I will be looking for Zeds ..
So if , around the middle of July, you see some 60 something guy giving your Zed the once over ..
Not to worry ...
Colonials "Look but never touch"
And that tourist might just be me !

Daughter is a BIG Tottenham Hotspurs fan ...
We are supposed to be staying at a hotel in London called "The Park Plaza County Hall" ????
So I see that there are tours of the Spurs Stadium.
Does anyone here have any idea how far from the hotel the Stadium is ?
Any tips on making that journey would be greatly appreciated ..
Plus are there any travel 'concerns' that I should have in getting there ..
I understand, there are areas where personal safety might be a concern for a Colonial wandering around ...

In short ..Im lost already and I need your help.

As long as you wear your traditional Canadian garb of Mountie uniform, or lumberjack shirt and jeans the locals will know you're friendly people. :D

Avoid wearing spurs colours in public (only half joking there)

the spurs ground is not that near where you are staying , about 9 miles looking on google maps , but very easy to get to by the tube train ,
heres a quick guide
get the tube from westminster station (jubilee line) to green park then change to the (victoria line) and take the tube to seven sisters
ther are plenty of staff at the tube stations that can point you to the correct train ,platform ect so dont worry , when you come out of seven sisters station its about a 10 ,15 minute walk from there straight along the high road ,as for safety will be fine ,you can always get a bus right outside the station to outside the stadium if you are worried .the high road is quite busy so you should be ok ,just dont have a big camera or other valuables hanging round your neck , :D shame your not over during the season , you could have gone to game! good luck and if you need any more help give me a shout ,im from the area so know it well

Geeze what a beautiful local. I took a look at some of your local pics and I am very impressed with your neighbourhood.
I don't think I'll have to opportunity this trip but your offer to look you up is very much appreciated.

I have a huge interest in WW1. I am planning on making a pilgrimage to France in the future.
My Grandfather fought for the duration with Canada's 26th New Brunswick Battalion.
I have managed to acquire the most significant histories of his experience so Im well aware of the day to day activities via War Diaries.
So someday ..Well you just never know when I might drop by.
Trust me..From those pics you look like you live in a paradise.

Sounds like an adventure !
Im just learning about the Football Culture you guys have grown up with.
Actually there is nothing to compare to it over here.
With the last two World Cups and the Euro Cup ..Plus TV coverage of various matches...
Well it is becoming more well known over here.

To be able to see the Jewel on White Hart Lane ..Well that would be a significant event on our adventure ..
Kind of like walking through Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens and knowing so many sports heroes had passed through those halls ..
Im hoping that Les Medley is a member of the Spurs Hall of Fame.
I taught with his son and when Steve Medley told me about his Dad ..Well I was gobsmacked !

Les Medley was the top scorer in the Spurs side that won the Second Division Title in 1949-50 and then he played in the First Division side that won the League Title in 1950-51. After leaving Spurs he went to Canada to play in 1954 so I guess his son was born there and continued to live in the country.
I've supported Spurs since watching my first match at White Hart Lane in September 1957!

i'm from the nearby of rotterdam that should be enough reason :P.

( and if i support any thing on your crazy isle it will be Swansea City !!, Swansea oh Swansea....... )

No plans to visit Scotland this time.
My ancestors were from The Border Lands (?) from a place called Wooler.
I married a Lovat Fraser, so there is a tour of Scotland on the Bucket List.
