BC RA vs KW V2's Coilovers

So the water pump/thermo all done and onto the lowered suspension.

I'm considering the BC BR @ £800 or KW V2's on offer until end of May for £1,195.

I think there is an option to go for softer springs on both kits, but with the KW's you have to buy them separately and with BC they can build them to spec with the softer springs but you lose the warranty.

Keen to know what spring rates on the BC's work best for a road use only car. They do (7kg+10kg) which is standard and options for (7+8) and (6+7).

Also any info on spring rates on the KW's would useful.

PS: How real are the claims of the BC's top mounting plates causing rattles.

Rattly BC coilovers are definitely very real, although with enough effort often curable.

I have ST XTA's fitted, which came with 50 N/mm springs fitted (5 kg/mm), these are most likely the same as the V2's considering they're the same damper inside. I can't confirm rear spring rate sadly.

I found the ST's very compliant for road use including the daily 50 mile commute, if anything more comfortable than stock - this may have been due to worn stock suspension though!

The KW's will outlast the BC's 10x over in my opinion

Yes, was also considering those ST XTA's but I believe these also come with that metal mounting plate.

Any rattling with them?

They do, one of the reasons I bought them as I wanted the extra camber for track days. No rattling from the top mounts though, probably a slight increase in road noise though.

The KW's are the way to go if you want to fit and forget due to the Inox coating. I ran V3's on my Mini for two years/36,000 miles and they looked brand new when I took them off to sell!

i'm running BC Racing BR (RA) series coilovers with 7/8kg option springs and great for road use

Having used BC shocks on another car, I intend to use them on my BMW when the time comes. Good product!

Having run both on my coupes...KW's are in a different league if you can afford the additional cost.

They're okay for the price, but I probably wouldn't rush to get another set again.
