BBC and Nelson Mandela funeral

Not wanting to cause offence but is anybody else P****d off with the blanket coverage by the BBC? They couldn't resist even having a dig at Thatcher into the bargin just to burnish their left wing credentials

Turned on the telly before 8 this morning, wanted to watch the news before going to rugby... Discovered to my dismay the funeral was on every BBC channel I could find, and Sky, until 1030 ! Briefly considered CBeebies, then watched Cheers on Dave

Turned on Breakfast this morning and apparently nothing else happening in the world, i'm with you brother.

It's been going on for days now! The funeral itself was of passing interest to me, the BBC coverage was completely OTT.

Were they slagging Thatcher off because she wasn't there

My only concern is the hypocrisy in this country that wanted him hanged as a terrorist, and now he's a hero, due to his imprisonment and hunge strike etc after being imprisoned for leading violent protests and murder and bombing campaigns against the ruling minority. :poke:
Say the same thing about Bobby Sands(who Mandela and the ANC mentioned in their struggle as giving them hope) and you are labelled as a bad bampot.
One mans freedom fighter is another mans terrorist.
(until the mans agenda changes to suit)
Thatcher wanted him hung as a terrorist and Cameron did too :poke:

I tried to watch some news this morning as well , but blanket Mandela funeral coverage, ended up watching a cooking programme with Jamie Oliver  If you research his early life he was no saint, but granted he did acknowledge his early shortcomings , ........ whats going to happen when the Queen passes on to TV viewing .

I'm not remotely interested, so yes I'd agree.

There are more roads in our capital city named after Mandela than there are Sir Winston Churchill. What a disgrace.

I've said my piece before... Despite his history, he grew into a great man and proved that dignified peaceful means can win out over violence. I've just had it all up to the back teeth this week, and could do without hearing about him for about a year. Maybe more.

Sad to say but as ever the BBC takes this stuff to excess and make it an instant channel swapping event.
