Battery replacement

Hoping someone can give me advice on battery replacement for e85 2 litre 2006.
If I replace the battery myself, what is the best battery at a sensible price and are there any software coding issues as with the e89 or is it just like most other cars?
Thanks in advance for your replies. :)

As advised from here and did me proud with a Bosch S6 recently.
Very well packaged and good price.

I've had a Varta E44 for about 2 years and been very happy with it, only about £60. No coding needed, if you have a battery pack connect it up via jump points or to another car/battery to save losing settings.

Give the posts and clamps a good clean with a little bicarb paste, clean this off and then add a light smear of petroleum jelly.

I've been doing perfectly well with a John Deere tractor battery for the last year

To be honest, anything with the same amp hours etc, and that fits will do. It just so happens John Deere make one exactly the same as a BMW battery
