Battery replacement

So my battery looks like its given up the goose (only charges to 12v and wont hold charge).

Its the original BMW battery so not bad for 8 years of life!

Question is do I replace it with with Bosch S5 110

Both 5 year guarantee, about £10 difference, exact same spec..

Ive had both Bosch and Varta in the past without issues but wondered what the consensus was here?

(Oh and if anyone had seen them cheaper)
 
I'd caution against ebay for such items.

Ebay only enforce guarantees for 3 months and after that you're on your own. I've had issues with a camera warranty where the vendor doesn't even reply and the items was only 4 months old.

Just makes me nervous going back in x years and hoping the seller is still online and trading.

Change overs should be fine. Mine was completely dead for 5 days and all I lost was the one touch close on the windows plus the clock. No limp mode or anything. :D
 
Varta way better than the Bosch, for some reason the Bosch just does not last and even though you get a free replacement it is a pain in the neck (no replacement for the replacement as I found out as well when I wanted to claim for a second one in 4 years).

Varta and Bosche are the same company, same factories under VB Autobatterie of Germany - same batteries. Marketing and support may differ but not much else. Having said that I buy Varta but no idea why :idunno:

I had a feeling this may be as the spec was identical..

I tend to go for Varta as they are cheaper but not by much!
 
As I received my CTEK charger a few days ago I have had a good look at my battery and wanted to know what peoples thoughts are on the Tungstone Titanium brand.

The one I have is a, Tungstone Titanium 670, 72 amps (extra power) part number is 096?

Battery was replaced before I bought the car and cost the guy over £100 but is this a good battery brand or is Varta the one to go for?
 
I've not heard of them. Part number 096 is actually the size 72amps. The one I went for was the step up (110 which is 80amps). Doing a great job and Bosch / Varta seems to be the market leader.
