Battery replacement

Hi everybody, I've just purchased my first Z4,2010 2.3 service auto and I'm very impressed and happy with my new baby. Had the fault memory checked and all good except for " exhausted" battery which has caused me no problems up to press. My question is, should I leave it till it does cause me a problem or be proactive and replace now? Also is it necessary to fit a genuine BMW one ? all opinions / suggestions welcome

Welcome to the forum and to Z4 ownership.

I'd replace the battery before you have any problems. Dying batteries can cause all sorts of random electrical issues in BMWs of this era.

Cheapest place to buy them seems to be online at Tayna who deliver them. Any brand will be fine, Bosch, Yuasa, Varta, etc. although I got an Exide for my car.

I don't think the battery for your car will need to be coded via the OBD but hopefully someone on here will know for sure.

many thanks mr tidy, ive had a quote for a varta at £185 which is what BMW fit + £25 for registering ,the car needs to know its had a new battery fitted. does this sound reasonable ?

Apologies for the double post.

I got an Exide 70Ah from Tayna in April 2021 for £104.97 delivered for my MC if that helps. Like I said it didn't need registering but I don't know whether they do on 2010 models.

Varta £150.. https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/varta/e39/

Maybe find a forum member who can register it?
