Battery replacement, BMW or?

£250 excess sounds painful ronk. :o

Makes me glad my BMWs are both teenagers now!

A new battery for my MC was £104.97 delivered from Tayna in April 21, bolted in and connected in minutes with no coding malarkey required.

£422 with £250 excess or £770 with £0 excess so I gambled! This year I lost

I hear what you say about the Battery fitting - I think they call it “progress”

That concept of "progress" is one of the reasons I'm sticking to my oldies!

Thanks Tim!

At my age it will probably be a mobility scooter.

I had the excessive drain issue recently. I used my CTEK and the battery is showing a lower voltage than it should (12.2V), but has behaved OK since. When I had the problem, I removed the Bluetooth ODBII module that I had put in the car when I bought it in early May.

I haven't refitted it and the problem hasn't recurred. I wonder if they are related? I also got a jump starter pack to keep in the boot just in case https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=141507

Could well be related, I've kept my P3 Gauge unplugged from the ODB port and the battery issue went away and hasn't surfaced again.

I did some BMW forum searches and someone with a 3 Series with the same dash gauge had the same battery message problem.

Just seems odd in my case the gauge has always been permanently plugged into the ODB and never had any issues before :?

Tim.

I would expect with the age of the battery that it is less resilient to a permanent drain, which it was probably ok with when new(er)

That would make sense, I'm hoping I can eek out the battery life to match the 13 years it lasted in the Z3 so another 6 years to go :D
