Battery drain?

I fitted a cheap replacement (non OEM) third brake light last weekend. The cars not been on the trickle charge recently as I’m using it more in the hood weather. Not had any issues until now- one week after fitting the new light the battery is dead- as in had to have the X5 running to jump the Z. Could the battery being getting a drain from the new light? The connection plug wasn’t the best fit.

seems unlikely to me, pretty sure in order for that third brake light to even have power it has to be user activated via the pedal

Doesnt sound like the third brake light tbh, Paddy. Thats ignition hot IIRC, so would not be drawing power when the car is off. Maybe you have a parasitic drain from somewhere else in the car if the battery is healthy?

Easy way to rule out the third brake light would be to remove it completely and see if you still get drain, but as I say, feels unlikely to be the culprit.

Check that centre cubby light
That one’s already been fixed 😂😂. Seems ok again now- sat it on conditioner for a few days and it’s fine again. Weird- thanks for all the advice.
