Battery drain - iPod adapter?

Hi,
Does anyone have any info regarding the official bmw iPod adapter causing a power drain (approx 2 amps)?
I have recently removed a hands free / Bluetooth audio adaptor (Bury 9068 - not impressed) from my Z4MR and found the bmw adapter hiding behind the dash. Having connected it all up it works as it should but I now how a battery drain that wasn't there before. Have I just found out why it was ditched?! Anyone have info on this issue? I have seen some references to a bmw bulletin on this but all the posts are old and the links no longer work. I would really appreciate any help or guidance.
Thanks

2 amps is a heck of a lot especially if its turned off. Does it feel hot to touch?

I think the issue would be that the adapter keeps the audio system ‘awake’, including the amp, navigation system etc - hence the significant current. I’m not sure if the adapter gets warm as it is buried behind the dash. I will explore with amp clamp and fuse pulling at the weekend but any further info on this issue, the iPod adapter or other potential sources of the power drain would be appreciated.

I know this is an old thread but I had exactly the same thing happen to my 2006 Z4, I connected up a multimeter and was able to trace the cause of my battery draining issues.

By a process of elimination and by taking out the 2 amp fuse that feeds the iPod connector the drain on the battery dropped to 37 milliamps. (It was nearly 1.5 amps)

Problem solved and if the next owner wants to sort it out good luck to them but that fuse is staying out of that junk

I remember when I went on a run last year and one of the Forum members mentioned he'd had a good deal on his 3.0 E85 as there were some electrical issues with it. Anyway, from what I remember, he said the problem was finally resolved when his mechanic / auto sparky found an Apple adaptor of some description hooked up to the electrical system. When this was removed all was good again.
