I need to charge my battery up as its gone flat should i remove the battery or still leave it connected to the car as it charges.

if you look in the owners' manual, there are connectors under the bonnet that you hook the charger up to, leave the battery in situ.

thanks good to know do i need to remove any caps when charging as i have never charged a battery before and remember if i'm not wrong you had to remove caps before charging is it necessary on these batteries.

I don't think so, there's a breather attached iirc, I do leave my boot up anyway with the lock rolled so the light doesn't stay on

Use the bonnet points, that is the best way to charge without risk to the electrics.

I'd leave it at least until tomorrow tea time then try it, if it's totally flat some things may not work when it's charged up, that's what I was told on here the other week, maybe someone will come along and expand, mine was ok so didn't need to do anything else, good luck

tea time = is that 3 pm for a cup of tea or 6 pm at dinner time? :D

It depends on whether you use a trickle charger or a fast charger. It should be relatively safe to leave the battery on the car if you use a trickle charger with auto maintenance mode (charger will shut off once the battery is fully charged). Else, take the battery off the car if you're using one of those fast charger.

He is worried about the gasses I assume.

Trickle chargers should be fine though as only when you super charge it will it gas.

lidl have these trickle chargers this week at 14 quid most sinilar ones are 45 to 80 quid , plenty left yesterday after i bought two, come wirh clamps and ring terminals so i have connected to battery in boot which leaves just a plug to connect ro, the boot seal is soft enough not to damage the cable , much less hassle than using the under bonnet connections, i have a cigarette socket adapter too but with the self closing windows on the m i cant use it. good luck
