Battery chargers - car used once a week - Worthwhile?

Afternoon all,

My Z is a Weekend car and gets only occasional use. Tbh probably gets 1-2hrs use a week on average. I've never had any battery/starting issues to date but should it sit on a battery charger during the week?

Cheers

You may not have any issues but, IMO, it's worth leaving it on an 'intelligent' charger like a CTEK to keep the battery topped

if your just doing a pop down the shops every weekend then yes, if your going out for decent run then i wouldn't bother . if it drops to once a month then yes.

whichever way you go buy a ctek as they are ace and easy to use with their comfort clips

Only use mine weekends, all year around. Had to jump start it once, earlier this year. That was after all the storms, plus I was ill for two weeks, so the car hadn't been looked at in nearly a month. Poor neglected thing.

So no you don't need one. But I still might take a look myself for £34.00.

I've been using my 2004 as a weekend only car for 3 years without a single issue. Sometimes if life gets busy it may sit for a couple of weeks without any problems. IMHO I wouldn't bother with a battery charger

All my cars that are not used every day have them on them. I killed my first Z4 battery by not using it for weeks on end, got a warranty replacement but since then I am using CTEKs on all.

I need to get another one for the 911 as that is an AGM battery and my other CTEKs are not suitable for that.
