Battery/Alternator

Hello
I've just started having an issue with my battery light coming on when starting the engine, It goes off after a few minutes but something isn't right.
Took the car on the Peak run last weekend and before I set off the light came on for about a minute then went off, half way round the trip 80 miles-ish we stopped at a pub for an hour, got in the car and the light came on for about 30 seconds.
Got home and connected the battery charger and left overnight. The following morning the charger said fully charged, started up, and the light came on for about a minute.
I'm thinking the battery is on the way out because the alternator is shoving some charge in it. The battery is only 3 years old and the car has done less than 2000 miles.
Anything I'm missing ?

I would remove the battery and charge it using a battery conditioner such as CTek MXS 7.0 then check it with a battery condition tester, such as this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-12V-10...327180&hash=item2146e7b3b8:g:DPwAAOSwfHFbih4~. I own both these items being a petrol head for many years :D with numerous occasions where I had to determine where the fault was. A lead acid battery is very old technology and is the weak point of any car. A few years ago, I think it was Mercedes who led it, was to up the voltage of cars to 42V which would reduce the current required and hence thinner wires and more 'lee-way' for electrical equipment. Without these tests and a simple multimeter to check the output of the alternator it is a guess what is at fault. One other point is that you can buy a new item and it be faulty, so don't assume a new battery is not the issue until proven good.
