Battery & Airbag! HELP !

Sooo I had my battery checked out by my road side cover and it was indeed, very dead and failed to charge. So I present the guy with a nice new BOSCH S3, which he pops in and I am back in business :driving: I must have driven fro about 3 seconds before the red airbag sign came up :thumbsdown:

Am I being silly or are there threads about this happening! i.e. a mega expensive job to repair? There are some threads about a module cable to the battery which can be damaged easily, resulting in some very high bills to repair.
 
checked to see if any fault codes are saved and if upon clearing they come back?
 
Not heard of that? It's usually a high resistance/disturbed under seat airbag connector that triggers the light in all the threads I've read on it-I changed my battery this year & didn't notice any other cables attached to the battery apart from the expected heavy duty terminal cables.

No fault code reader and light always on ! The Zed is having a small fortune spent on the 8th so I will get them to code read. Logged complaint with recovery company just in case its expensive.
 
I've got the same issue since I took the battery off at the weekend!

There's obviously an error in the car, but you can't read it with your average code reader as the Z4 airbag system is different to most BMWs, and safety items aren't as accessible.

Please do let me know if you manage to get it fixed!
 
It is quite likely to be the battery accident disconnect cable as you describe. I had this issue with mine once after disconnecting the battery.

I do have a code reader, cleared the code, wiggled the thin yellow wire a bit and it didn't come back, so I suspect it is prone to transient faults, but you'll need a code reader to read and then clear the fault (assuming that is the problem of course).
 
my son had the same thing happen to his 3.0l se, it was a fault code but deeper down in a sub menu, luckily his friend works in a garage and found it and reset it for free (my son always comes up smelling of rose after treading in S**T) it happened as the battery was so dead :thumbsup:
