Battery Again!

Hi

Battery on the Zed is dead as its not been driven for a month or two! should have done some little journeys but I didn't :thumbsdown: Am I being stupid or are there some horror stories about jump starting the Zed? Im temted to just wack on the leads and turn her over but some threads are making me think twice?

I just getting a clicking noise at present and the door pins move up and down slowly, so can I just jump start her or should I replace with a nice new BOSCH S3/4/5 etc?
 
When you're back on the road invest in a trickle charger - Ctek is the most popular one - bought mine from Amazon for £45 - can leave it on all the time - keeps battery charged and in top condition constantly.
 
I wouldn't replace the battery as it may not be totally goosed , get a trickle charger on it for 12-24 hours then maintain it either by driving regularly or via the trickle charger
My current 03 plate E85 doesn't seem as affected with battery drain as my 56 E86 was but that was loaded with spec & my roady is flimpered to the max :P
 
as said get a ctec or one from bm I have one .you can recon the battery and get rid of all the sh-t off the plates be as good as new .
 
My only issue is that the car is in one of my bays at work (office block). I have no power outlets near the vehicle. I was thinking about getting a decent battery S3/4/5 and then keep my old one as a spare! I presume trickle charges require an outlet :oops: ?

Not unheard of for these cars to drain battery's when idle so wouldn't the same problem occur again only with a new battery ?

Hi, you are correct 100%. I never intended not to drive the car! its just with all the work about to be carried out on suspension etc, I didn't want to cause any further damage to my baby. As soon as the 8th December is out of the way, she will be used o na regular basis!
 
As an aside, having recently bought one, I can confirm hat the only difference between the 3, 4 and 5 is the length of warranty. The battery in all 3 specs is identical.
 
Not perfect but how about a solar panel charger you could pop on the dash ?

Some reviews say they work and the Z4 isn't a massive battery that would need loads of current charge.
 
People have been jumping starting cars since forever. Don't let internet myth scare you.

Jumps started mine twice. First time I put the clamps on the wrong way round, whoops!

Been fine both times though.
