Battery.......again!!!

I have an ashtray plug in, showing the voltage and at rest it now says 11.2v. On start up it shows 13.9v.

Do you think the battery could be too small and doesn't have the power to start the engine?

This is driving me nuts now as I can't drive the car as even after jump-starting, I can't be sure it will start for the return journey!! :headbang:

Hi, until your auto elec can find the drain I can reccomend one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Suaoki-Sta...-3-spons&keywords=jump+start+power+pack&psc=1 the wifes 1.8 Civic is only ever used for short trips here and there and as such the battery gets a hammering.

Charged it up once in May, and have jump started the car twice with it over the summer after it had been standing for a while, and even after using it twice it still has over half a charge left on it.

No but I did think about getting one. Would it show if the alternator output is too low

I have this exact same problem!

If I leave it more than a day I can guarantee it will be flat the next time I sit in it. Charge it to full, leave a day, flat again. It's driving (or stalling) me nuts! I also have Gap-tech, bulbs all changed to LED, headlight conversion, I don't get out in it a lot... I can think of numerous 'possibilities', but regardless it's a complete ball ache beginning every journey with a flat battery.
 
I've previously had a forum members car here with a similar problem, can't remember who's it was though!

Anyway, I traced it to a non working cd changer that a previous auto spark had ignored as he thought it s dead. It says drawing half an amp or so when after the car had gone to sleep. Turned it that someone had previously botched the loom, and the changer's ground had been cut, this caused it to drain through another module, which was the nav.

Replacing the ground connection cured it and got the changer working again.

If one of the diodes in the alternator rectifier pack fails, this can also cause similar problems.
