:( Ouch, that's in a bad place. Not going to push out. May have to resort to a bit of filler. Who's roof?

My own roof. To make matters worse we've only had a driveway for a week so this was one of the first times the car had been parked there :(

Really sad to see your phots OP. :(

I hope you can get it sorted successfully.

will the house insurers pay ?

Sadly they won't. They might if the OPs slates hit someone else's car as that is a third party claim, but not for the OP's car (that is what car insurance is for).

Gutted for you :( it is in an annoying place but it could be worse. I'd sooner take a dent like that in metal than a tile through the fabric

This has been on my mind recently, I'm now having to park my car up the side of the house. About 15 inches to the bricks under a gutter that's got a few tiles teetering inside it, on the other side is a hedge that I'm hoping isn't going to get sap on the car.
The struggles of not having a big enough garage :(

Or worse still - not having a garage at all.

I know a chap who had a really nice double garage of ample proportions, the gable end was accessible to his neighbour who claimed the wall as his - including banging in pegs for his trellis - the vibration shook a pot of paint off a shelf but he was unable to proove it and had to pay for the new bonnet of his new car!

Cut hedge and cover time

Hedge is on the list and roof covers on. Not so easy to prevent tiles coming off

Not good buddy
High winds i used to move mine from exs;)
For that exact reason
Hope get sorted

how often do roof tiles fall off houses though and i'm guessing this is more of an issue with older homes rather than newer ones? tbh it doesn't look that bad. it's only a car. imagine if the slate had hit someone?

a friend of mine reversed into his son's neighbour's car. there was very little damage just a small scratch. his son told his neighbour and they basically said was anyone hurt? to which his son said no but your car has a small scratch. his neighbour replied it's only a car. he offered to pay for it to get fixed and the neighbour hasn't bothered to yet and don't think he ever will.

well the moral of the story is; it's only a car, much more important things in life. if it's really bothering you i'm sure you can source that panel off a breaker second hand on the cheap.

You're absolute right. Forgive me for having a rant about car damage on a car forum!

take a chill pill. it's a small dent. easily fixed. sure it's not great but it happened in such a way you just have to take it on the chin as a part of life. it's at max what a £250 bill? not even worth bothering claiming off insurance.

or get up on your roof and start nailing all your slates down. :poke:

Morality AND life lessons? I got more from this thread than I bargained for

My neighbours dormer roof and ridge tiles blew of in the last lot of high winds we had, or what ever storm the stupid weather nuts want to name it.
When I got home, I noticed bits of slate along the side of our house, 1st thing I did was uncover the car and check it..no damage.
Lucky, there was no damage to any of our property. I did end up on top of my elderly neighbours roof, with a tarp and timber, in the driving rain, trying to make it weather tight.
