Basic servicing - DIY or Garage?

Hi Guys.

I've been reading this thread with great interest and don't want to Hijack it but I have a similar dilemma to that already raised. My car is on 72K now with the last official BMW stamp at 60K but 3/4 years ago. The guy I bought it from has been doing the service work himself sine he bought her and I have receipts for the parts, Oil etc to back this (Last one done at 70K). However, because the car has only done 12K since the last "Official" service, a stamp now would look good in the book come resale time don't you think?

It doesn't bother me personally but some people can be very anal about things like that.

I was also considering a local mechanic who I trust to do the next service, so is it possible to get a list of what is supposed to be covered by inspection 1 & 2 services according to BMW?

Regards.

Well I hope they ARE the right ones cos just ordered 6 off ebay for £37!

I'm torn between the '4' prong plugs standard type or the Iridium ones - NGK BKR6EIX.

I can pick up the Iridium ones for £5.85 per plug via Amazon incl free delivery.

Hmmmm, decisions decisions, bugger it, ordered via Amazon £35.10 x 6 BKR6EIX Iridium plugs (BKR6418 alternate part no.)

I pay for the stamp for an "Oil Service" (as due on the OBC) at a reputable indie, with me supplying the oil and parts, but do interim oil changes myself.

That way you give 90% of future buyers what they want to see, plus the more frequent changes protect you a bit from a garage using a pump or not taking the time to drain the old oil out completely.

would those plugs be ok for the 4 pot 2.0i engine.... ?

I'm not sure buddy but there's a spark plug guide here where you can type in your details to see what plugs you'll need.

You can select NGK, Denso and Champion and the select your car/make/model etc...

I just swapped mine with NGK Spark Plugs BKR6EQUP good price from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/bmwmotormec,
