Luck, lucky, lucky, lucky (and continue to repeat that for about a minute) ba...tard! And I bet whoever bought them got them for a song...!

WOW! i saw one of these a while ago and the thought of getting one to fix up was in my head for a good while after. lovely car

They were actually sold for a lot of money by a wealthy car collector who had them from new. Part of the reason for the sale was apparently to fund his sons racing career. Don't worry you haven't missed out on a bargain. :)

The story on other forums from the buyer seems to be -

- Billionaire buys his two infant sons a red E30 M3 each for when they grow up. hence both being red - no arguments!
- Buyer met the guy at Silverstone GP hospitality, got talking, decided to sell them as he 'forgot about them'
- Also had a Mercedes 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution and a Ford RS200, both unregistered and no miles...looks like he bought all four:

:o Just checked autotrader and for a second hand ''well used'' one they are 10-15k!

These are worth an awful lot more....especially as they are Evo Sports too. Top quality, clean models with low mileage are worth up to £30k each....these must be worth a fair bit more. The Mercedes sounds like it's worth £60k-£70k and god knows what the RS200 is gonna be worth. The only problem, of course, is the moment you drive cars like this you devalue them. And I am not the kind of guy that used to keep his Micro Machines in the box if you know what I mean....I'd want to drive it.

"Along with the the two classic bimmers, the lucky car collector from Swansea, England, also got his hands on Ford RS200, another rare find."

Eeek. thats one of my faves, check out this one for sale for £125,000 !

"Got talking to the previous owner at silverstone in hospitality & started talking cars.. said if he ever wanted to sell would he call.. few months later he called.. "

Sooo jealous. There's a W190 2.6 Merc in there too.

Here's a bit more of the story from a guy on bmwcarmagazine forum who says he knows the seller:

"I can't find my original post which included pics of these cars, thought you might Simon.

Originally owned by my mate in Hopton.
I've known him for almost 30 years and remember when he bought them.
I lived away from home above those cars for 18 months and oh how I wanted one of the BM's.
I looked after his boys racing for him, when he was out of the country.
He well maybe a billionaire but he's a quite private non domicile Monaco resident.
I emailed him from Rockingham yesterday to let him know his cars were all over the internet and he was being quoted as being a billionaire, he always tells me he's skint.
I can tell you he certainly hadn't forgot about them because the race workshop is in the garage next door.
I'll see him next week at Snetterton for an update.
It might interest you to know when I originally posted pics of those cars nobody asked if they were for sale.
Back then he wouldn't have sold them anyway but with a big investment in his lift truck factory in Taiwan and 2 boys who want to continue racing circumstances change.
His oldest boy has been testing GP3 and that is a highly expensive series to compete in.
I still can't get my mind around the fact he has sold them.
The RS200 doesn't run and the register never knew where the car was located or who owned it".
