Ballpark figure for an oil change plus INSP1 at an indy?

Morning folks,

Quick question regarding what you've paid for the above work at your local trusted specialist. My M coupe is due an oil change and I'm thinking I may as well get an early INSP1 done at the same time. It's the first big expense on the car for me since I bought it, (touch wood it stays this reliable!) and want to keep the SH nice and up-to-date.

...There's a decent independent near me (Grosvenor BMW in Reading) so I'll give them a ring next week to book it in, but would appreciate some estimates of cost from you guys for what you paid for this work, so I have something to benchmark against when they quote me for the work. I have some idea but would appreciate some real world costs.

Cheers,
Tom

When you get a price you really need to have itemised list of what they intend doing on 1ns1 , its basically a Ins2 minus plugs , diff oil & gearbox oil so if you are quoted any less than £400 be wary that they are including the valve clearance checks
Decent indy should be around £450 / main dealer most likely £650ish :?

I can't help you with costs OP, but there are a few people on here who use TWG Automotive in Camberley on a regular basis so you could always ask them for a price so you've got a comparison. (FWIW Will, the principal, is ex-Sytner).

No mention of valve clearances there, so assume it's not being done. Also it a MAX of 15,500 miles if you go by mileage and no time limit if you don't do the mileage.

Paid £600 inc VAT recently at a reputable indie in bucks. Usually supply my own oil, but not this time, which would have made it a little cheaper. It was also picked up from and dropped off at home while I was away, which added about 30 mins book time.

Just had my oil service and visual check done at an Indy in Newcastle which included an MOT for £185.

Local BMW stealership priced it at £450 plus VAT

All genuine BMW parts including micro filter and approved oil.

You would think that all BMW garages would have a set price for carrying out the same service to the relevant models but it looks like they charge a customer as much they can get away with! Sytners Cardiff charge £350 for an oil change, while a registered BMW service garage within a few miles of that one charges £217 for exactly the same work. I understand that overheads of each will be different but the margins between them are too great for that excuse. My feelings are that Nanu's price above of £185 for some oil and a filter with labour is spot on fair.
