Bag of nails

Currently in Stratstone BMW after two hours of looking it at a cost of £180 they have told me that bank one pre cat O2 sensor requires replacing at a cost of £250.
Not a good day, just hope they know what there doing and it's finally sorted. Gutted to say the least at how much this car is costing me to say it's only got 30k I wouldnt expect these sort of things to be breaking.

That's one of the common problem areas though, so you either have to budget for it in the purchase price of the car, get a warranty, or put the warranty money away for unexpected 'surprises'.

My warranty has paid for itself over the 2.5 years I've had mine. Some time on little things that I wouldn't pay to rectify (like overly-noisy wiper relay, squeeling wiper motor, weeping cam chest seal, etc.), but as I've got the £0 excess policy I'll book it into a dealer for them to sort out. These things may only cost an hour's labour each time, but that would cost me over £100 each time I took it in.

Ok just had a bottle of red wine & just about got over my earlier mardy moment, just want to post the final reply & Jesus the car is transformed now it been sorted feels loads smoother through the gear im getting the impression that maybe this O2 sensor was on the way out when I test drove the car before purchase because the car feels loads better now.
The cars revs used to drop sudden before each gear change making rough changers that's all gone now & real punches through the box with urgency, mint back in love, bring on the islay tour!
