Badly scratched headlight lense.

Hi All. A very honest Italian guy reversed into my E85 in a shopping car park at the weekend. The damage is light and amounts to light scratches on the n/s wing and bumper which need spraying to remedy. Unfortunately there are a couple of bad scratches to the side of the headlight lense. Two quotes that I have obtained are in the region of £1700 as they say the scratches cannot be removed and the Xenon headlight unit will need to be replaced.
I'm loathed to expect someone to pay crazy money to repair a couple of scratches be it there fault in the first place. Does anyone know of a firm that can repair the lense as I'm told they cannot be polished out.

There are companies who remove scratches, but why bother, he hit your car and you need it repairing properly, so no matter what it costs, he has to pay up.
 
That's what his insurance company is there for - appreciate your fairness but why should you be out of pocket or inconvenienced? Also it will reduce your cars worth if you come to sell it .
