Ok, had a problem for a while didn't with a bad smell when I first get in car, eggy would be a way to describe, dead decomposing animal another. It goes a bit after a couple of miles but isn't pleasant and I was never sure if it went completely or I just got used to it after a couple of miles. However it's not that strong and seemed to be getting better but was always there first thing sometime stronger than others. I didn't notice it when I first got the car but a that doesn't mean it wasn't there. To try and sort it I first checked the car through out to make sure nothing was dead, dying or rotting couldn't find a thing, then i cleaned it hovered it, smell still there. Next thing was to close all the vents when parked up, still there but small improvement. I did think it might be the guard x leather cleaner going off after a while, but up close the smell was not coming from seats, in fact up close smell not coming from anywhere inside cabin. I did some research and found out the smell might be the catalytic converter, and new ones might take a while to run in, car had done 3.6k so thought i'd give it another k or so then back to dealer. I always fill up with Shell v power nitro plus.
This weekend I drove to France (Nantes) and back and the smell has gone. It was there albeit faint when I sat off, it was there in the back ground all the way to France where I filled up with total excellium (sp?) as no shell nearby and the smell seemed to go, almost instantly, I wasn't 100% sure as smell always worse when first in car and by this time I'd been in it a few hours. But after being parked up for a few days in Nantes, this morning no smell when there would have been before. The car had 4.2k on it by this point.
I was with Mrs Sketchley so didn't drive 'spiritedly' or use sport and gear stick left mode, so maybe it's a heat thing? Anyone got any thoughts? Was it the shell fuel? Was it the cat and it's is now run in? Is it the guard x leather stuff, anyone else had any similar problems?
Guess the thing to do now is while I have some none shell fuel in it, go and do the spirited driving in sport mode, then if still no smell put some shell nitro in again and see if it comes back.
Anyone else notices anything similar?
