Bad scratches

Hi Guys,

Am having some bad times with my paintwork on my zed
Have a few patches - where it looks like someone has gone over it with a scourer. The patches are very obvious when the car is clean and shiny as there is no shine from those patches just a dull scratchy look. I have tried a bit of t-cut/polish but still doesn't get rid of it. What is the next step I need to take to get them solved? do each of the panels where the scratches are need to be resprayed? does anyone know anywhere best to get this done or the cost it might cost me?

I will get some pics up later when I'm back from work.
Any advice would be appreciated....

I think you will find this is caused by excessive rubbing when removing marks from the paint work when washing the car.
Just try waxing the area and then polishing it a couple of times and you will probably find the area will be restored.

Dav - I've tried the polish and wax a couple of times and still not improving (does when first applied however after the car gets a bit dirty is clearly visible)

That certainly looks like a scourer has been used on it

You may need a cutting compound (such as G3) with a machine polisher or good old elbow greese to flatten that back... but be careful not to go too far with it.

I would say you either need to get professional paint correction or do it yourself. they look quite bad


get something like a Dual action polisher (a proper one) porter cable etc, and get some cutting compounds so that you can polish them out.

if i was you i wouldnt go to a paint shop for an oppinion because you know they will say..... paint it. google your local car detailer/paint correction place and get their oppinion, most have shops and you could buy the kit from there.

I've contacted a couple of guys who I've sent over the pics for first analysis - otherwise will do what you suggested Rudd and take to paint shop

Guy called Paul came round yesterday afternoon. Put up a marquee - put a bit of 'strong' polish on and machined the scratches out - good as new now!
When the rain stops I will get round to cleaning it all and posting some pics up! very relieved

It looked a little deep but i would have hoped machining it would have done the job...
