If they are local to each other maybe, otherwise no.

This. If you arrange a meet within a fairly close geographical area, and especially if members who signed up to one, then move to another as has happened recently, it's pretty poor form as we all know how much effort goes into planning them.

What kind of loser cries about something as pathetic as this? Own up or name and shame.

I haven't cried about it, but if you'd set up a meet, planned the route, organised lunch, parking etc etc, then someone set up another run not so far away on the same date and people started cancelling on you, you'd be pretty annoyed about it. So "loser" is a bit harsh.

Thing is Stuart a lot of us put our names down right from the start but nothing was ever organised until much later when the locations had changed from Ace Cafe to M40 North East of London. On that basis I have no qualm in changing my mind. If everything had been laid out up front, then I agree it would be bad for for us to jump ship.

If one meet was arranged privately (off the board), and loads of people who had previously committed to another meet jumped ship, then yes it would be poor form in my opinion.

I am truly shocked this thread was started. Jembo, you and I have met each other enough times at Meets for you to be able to pick up the phone and discuss a one lined comment I may have made that offended you in a Private message which was in response to a PM you initially sent to me. Starting this thread was unnecessary, if not a bit childish, and you just wanted to have a dig IMO  . If you would like my number to discuss this further I can PM it to you.

And for those that wanted "the loser" naming and shaming it was me.

having been put slightly more in context, I'm going to stick my neck out and say this thread was probably poor etiquette.

don't know all the facts but prima facie, if you have beef, deal with it in the way it arose. :)

Agree totally with the consensus of this thread. No problem with more than one meet. As long as they don't clash on time & place. The few times I've seen this happen, it's been by accident and usually one is merged into the other prior to the day.

The ideal number of cars for a hoon is 5-6 IMO. However it's better to have 30 people to chat with at lunch. It can be tricky maintaining a conversation with four strangers. Different once you get to know people. So better to have 10-20 cars split into smaller groups.

Er...I only just saw this thread.

No wonder it had gone quiet on the picture reporting front from Sunday's kent meet. I thought it might have been something I'd said

Not sure if I can add to what else has been said other than I can completely see both sides of the coin. On the one hand we have a west London (Middlesex?) meet and on the other we have a Kent one, which I think was arranged fairly quickly and last minute.

If the Kent one hadnt happened I would have tried to make the west London one, even though it would mean a fair whack of a trip across to the other side of town and back again at hoon end - all on a sunny Sunday with traffic. But when arranged it just made sense to me to choose the one more local to me.

Not really poll-worthy as an answer I know bit isnt it just logic? :!:

Matter is concluded as far as I am concerned & as far as am aware for Ruby as well - hence didn't feel worth discussing in morning of meet though was briefly mentioned at picnic.

As for this thread / poll, this is a forum & will be a sad day where we can't discuss something where there's a difference of opinion in anonymity unless anyone chooses otherwise, as felt some involved in the London meet were becoming unhappy.

Jembo, I'd rather you didn't speak for me please. I have no problem with you gathering opinions with your thread but I feel the below of your original post was directed at me and not necessary:

In terms of the he or she who made the comment, this will remain between us, as that would in my book be bad forum etiquette to disclose who privately made their opinions known.

You know the nature of the forum and what would happen with negative comments possibly being posted in response.I felt this part of the post made it personal and was, as I said trying to have a dig at me for a short sentence I wrote in a PM. I think this whole thing was blown out of proportion and theres me thinking women were bad. This is my opinion on the whole matter, which I'm allowed to have. There is frankly nothing more I have to say and I'm sick of the whole thing.

In an attempt to lighten the mood somewhat...

This thread has give a clever insight into how to get ruby's number...

I'm sure a lot of fella's on this forum would like to discuss this in private Ruby ;)

I'm not sure distance comes into it ...... We in Scotland have to make sure our events don't clash with the South- East meets so that Bing can make both :driving: .... Said tongue firmly in cheek.

It's natural that events share weekends throughout the UK , it has happened and will happen again - difficulty is deciding what is a reasonable distance apart - I quite often have a 120 mile plus drive to the start of the meet - yet in the North of England you could have a Manchester based run and south yorks run on the same day which are no more than 40-50 miles apart but considered locally as two totally different regions.

In the end of the day we hold informal meets without all the hierarchy of an owners club - with their prescribed regions and appointed run dates set by AGM... And to date we have far fewer fall outs than I've seen in Owners Clubs. Without a formal framework we will get occasional clashes but for me that's preferable and to be expected in a Forum environment.

Hopefully no one falls out over this long term particularly Forum Meet participants ... :driving:

Felt from the PM we had on weekend this had been put behind us long ago.

Considering you had made a strong PM comment using the exact words of this thread, didn't hear further after I replied & could see you had read my PM, was unreasonable to leave things hanging in the air.

This thread was never personal, simply an opportunity to air what is & is not acceptable for hoon meets & I never made it so.

What has boiled my pi$$ is despite locking the Kent thread weeks ago after learning of the Ldn meet, keeping it quiet for the few who preferred it, making sure was not discussed on the forum to cause conflict with Ldn, politely reached out at last minute when could see Ldn meet was struggling, try to resolve it politely & still keeping a lot of my opinions quiet, well congratulations seems to have been made personal from one side.

How many of you southern softies are coming to my next Scottish meet then? :D

Any less than 20 and I'll be most offended :poke:

The driving roads are good, just ask Bing :D
