Want to ask for your opinions, as had a comment recently that hosting a hoon on the same day - although initially was accidental - is bad forum etiquette.

I mentioned this has happened a few times before - eg National Z4 hoon day in 2013 for example when we had about 5 meets all on the same day, so whilst there is this & a number of other mitigating circumstances, am interested to hear if I've really missed something, especially as individuals I see we have the right to choose which party we go to.

In terms of the he or she who made the comment, this will remain between us, as that would in my book be bad forum etiquette to disclose who privately made their opinions known.

Never heard that before on any forum I've been on. Sounds a bit bitter and petty to me.

So in theory if there was a London meet then people in Scotland couldn't arrange a meet on the same date? Where do you draw the line?

Agree with Chris - this is a big forum covering all of UK and beyond !

I can kinda see there may be a challenge if there was to be a clash with two big centralised national meets but hey variety is the spice etc.

No issue in my eyes :| folks can choose to go whichever / wherever with whoever they decide & unless blatantly slagging another meet off then i don,t see the problem ?

I suspect the only people who might be bothered and hence take issue would be those that had already planned a meet for that day. 8)

If they are local to each other maybe, otherwise no.

It's a big country

In the instance one if north west of London and the other in Kent. To me that is some distance. For me that is 180 mile round trip before I've even started the forum part, where as Kent is less than half.

Also the London meet took so bloody long to get some momentum which I think has led to it's ultimate downfall.

All just IMO.

Lets just all be friends and get on with life :friends:

I personally would avoid arranging a meet for the same day as another within a reasonable distance, on the basis that I would get less takers for my meet, if it was percievably in the same catchment area.

However, I think bad ettiquette would be to pull out of something you've already committed to, in order to join another meet.

I'd probably say a meet within 75 miles is conflicted interests.

PS. Sorry Spikey, have to pull out of your meet tomorrow. - I'm going on the London one instead ! :?

As others have said, if 2 meets were on in the same area on the same day/weekend then that would be poor, but not if in completely different parts of the country :driving:

P.S Unless it clashed with the National meet, lol :D

It's a bit of a shame if two meets close together are organised for the same day as it reduces the hooning opportunities for those who would have gone to both.

I agree it's disappointing if people who have committed to go to one then pull out to go to another. People put a lot of effort into planning routes and doing test runs so it is a bit off to cancel in favour of another run.

Guess really it all depends on numbers. More than 10 on a run gets a bit much sometimes so a split is quite a good thing.

At the end of the day we all bought these cars to have fun in them so surely it's not worth falling out over

The London one was going to be Ace Cafe, but for whatever reason it wasn't sorted before another one, more local to me, was suggested. By the time it was sorted I'd decided on the other.

There are loads and loads of Z owners in the SE, probably more densely grouped than other places, so it's possible to have two meets & two good turnouts. It's great when 25+ people & cars turn up, but it can be very hard to manage - sometimes smaller is better, meaning one leader, one tail-gunner, less chance of getting lost and less time waiting for people to catch up. I don't have a problem with the latter, it's necessary, but a bit stressful for those leading groups to deal with as there's a conflict between not wanting to leave anyone behind and those who want to push on.

Agreed. For a lot the London meet was completely the wrong side of London. Plus I think there are a fair few going on the Kent meet that were never going on the London meet anyway

Sounds silly to me, after all we are individuals and can choose what event we want to go to ( my opinion is only theory as I have yet to make any meets. ) :headbang:

I like choice.

even if two runs were setting off from the same place I would be happy.

Close is good.

I better have a gander at the events threads
