Hi all,

Anyone had this before? Do you think it will be covered by warranty?

Ye heard it a few weeks ago and thought it was a PC CD Drive that was in my boot, but heard it again yesterday and thought that sounds "exhausty" so had a look.

Took car into BMW today they found the following:

Front Disks below recommended
2 Rear Springs Broke
Exhaust bracket snapped

As the car is an AUC its a gray area if the back-box is covered or not, as it's a clean snap not corroded or anything.

2 Rear springs will be replaced under warranty! (FINALLY A DEALERSHIP THAT HAS FOUND MY RATTLE!!! I've took it to a different dealership twice now and they said nothing was wrong! ARGH!)

Front disk they want to charge me £250!? Can't understand why the brake pads are fine but the disks need changing??

Glad to hear your rattle is sorted :D

They'll tell you theyre 'due' anything past 50% wear :(, its best to check yourself and feel the lip on the disc. I really wouldnt replace the discs without the pads also, incase the have worn slightly unevenly.

If they really need doing just do them yourself... ~£100 for parts (Discs AND Pads) plus 1-2hours of your time :)

Thanks Ed,

Just gotta wait for my car to be fixed and given back to me now. BMW dropped me off home from donny which was nice of them :D

Hopefully the backbox will be covered by them otherwise I'll have to buy one off ebay lol.

I would think that a muffler shop could reattach the bracket to the backbox. If you do have to replace the box, Mr. Whippey (http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16778) might be interested in the damaged one.

Same thing happened on mine. Took it to a local shop and it took the guy about 1 minute to weld it back. It has lasted for a year and going strong. Did it for free. I love Taiwan sometimes!!

Might be abit noiser on the exhuast if I get a new one from BMW untill it settles in :D

Got a 118d for the day, BMW won't do the backbox so looks like I'm getting my dads welder out tonight. Told them I'll do the disk brakes IF they need doing. Spring are been done and should get the car back later today.

Coming from the 3.0SI the 118d just seems so underpowered! meant to do 0-60 in 9 seconds but it feels like an age lol! chugchugchug of the diesel :driving:
