Backbox delete on the cheap

Good evening, a friend desperately wants a backbox delete. Cheap as possible. Can anyone recommend a garage they know in or around Surrey or London? Alternatively they will source the parts and approach a local exhaust garage. Already called a few and told to source etc. They prefer to so it witg a garage familiar with such. Links to recommendations on pipe width and where to buy would appreciated or garages. Many Thanks.

Jesus wept don't do it.

Sound shite and will have your ears ringing as it resonates like mad at lower rpms.

I had mine chopped for a week, and even that was because when I phoned an exhaust place within an hour of doing my chop, the earliest they could squeeze in rewelding my oe backbox back on was a week later!

Fastfit Basingstoke re-welded mine on, I'm sure they'd do the chop for you, probably about £100-150 I'd imagine but honestly don't bother, it'll get tiresome very quickly and it doesn't sound great either.

I've heard a 3.0Si that had a back box delete and it's far louder than I could tolerate for more than a few miles!

Like Ed I really wouldn't recommend it.

Heard a couple and agree with the above comments.
It seems a secondary cat delete is a better solution. At least the one I heard was.

I subsequently had a midbox removed and replaced with straight pipes on my old 3.0si; that was imo perfect for my use case (daily driving plus trackdays). A few pops and light crackles, and a decent bit more noise and rasp but no drone and not offensively loud or sounding obviously like you're just missing boxes. Cost me £80 I think again all welded in nicely by Fast Fit Basingstoke. So again not an expensive solution as exhaust mods go...

Mine had a back box delete when I bought it. Sounded terrible......like a blown exhaust. Driving at 60mph on a slight incline with the engine underload in 6th gear, it was near impossible to have a conversation. If it was a daily, it would've given me a headache.
I sourced a used back box and removed the delete kit.
Thankfully, I sold the delete kit to a lad in Manchester for the same as I bought the back box for.

In my opinion, it's a dreadful mod.

 I'm so glad it's not just me getting old, it really did sound terrible imo!!

I love the sound personally. Most assumed I had I high end custom exhaust. Sorted now. Local garage agreed install for £100 all in. £17 of which is for the 55mm pipe. Result I reckon.
