6 owners as well …
That isn't uncommon though with convertibles (or Porkers, or many M cars). Many people seem to have a 'fun' car for a season, then stick it in the garage and think it's a waste of money so sell it on.
Your average 911 has about an owner a year. I remember when I was toying with buying one, a mate who has had many said don't let the number of owners put you off.

Having the choice I would rather go for a 1 owner one though. I imagine that you preferred your car to have one owner a d not 10

Very much sounds like your better off out of that sale. Wonder what the inspection would have found that frightened him so much?

6 previous owners would worry me. Do you know how long he had it? maybe he was sold a pup and wanted rid.

Yes indeed. My Alp had one owner, my Z4 had four. I am a little put off by multiple owner cars, all I'm saying is it is not unusual for some types of cars. IIRC in the "good old days" a V5 only had the previous owner's details, no other information. I don't remember ever knowing how many owners a car had before me, so I didn't care.

I wonder whether the multiple owner phenomenon with certain cars is down to easy finance? For instance, if you look at the average number of owners for a 6 year old M4, it is about 4. Maybe that's because some 20 something can pay £400 a month and £150 a month for insurance and rag the arse out of it and show off for a year. £6000 later, realises "been there done that" and moves it on for the next 20 something to do the same thing. The finance company are lining their pockets in the meantime.
Not necessarily the same scenario with an E89, but easy finance is a way for most people to have what they want until they don't anymore.

There's nothing in the MOT history to be worried about. However, the MOT expires in a few weeks. My first thought would be damaged 326s since the last MOT.

That's a real PITA although it looks like it may not have been the best example. Hopefully you'll find a good one soon.

Multiple owners isn't unusual on cars like Z4s that are often a 2nd car impulse buy and often turn out to be impractical when circumstances change.

My previous Coupe had 5 before me and my current one had 7!

As already said think AA check put seller off, iys usually about that mileage that the adjustable dampers start leaking- big expense and an MOT fail. Did you test that roof worked ok as again could be another wallet drainer. Think you've dodged a bullet with that car.

For as long back as I can remember the number of owners has always been declared on the V5. High number of owners is not unusual on convertibles and high performance sport cars. Just now my mate is looking at a 2014 Bentley Continental Convertible with just 20,000 miles being sold by Bentley main dealer with 5 owners on the V5. This is very common with these types of cars, nothing to do with finance more to do with fulfilling a dream and then realising it isn't right for them or their lifestyle.

...and subtly pointing out you know where he lives.
If that's not a suggestion to impart a veiled threat I don't know what is!
It reminds me of the veiled threat Mr Tickle from Mr Tickle's sweet shop used to shout after me and my brother when we were nippers for sneaking extra gobstoppers out of the vending machine outside his shop; 'I know where yuuz live ye little bastids!'
I took great pleasure in reminding my brother of my more efficient getaway speed by virtue of having a larger back wheel and 3 gears on my Raleigh Chopper compared to his Budgie.

Any suggestion like "i know where you live' etc would be considered blackmail, threatening with menaces or extortion at the very least, sure poster isnt serious but just in case....

Yep, lucky escape there, hidden past. Forget and move on. Just a shame that some other poor sod’s going to get caught.

And as difficult to prove as a gentleman's agreement to buy.

It wouldn't happen to be a Silver Grey one advertised recently by a fellow member would it?

There we go, the other one wasn't meant to be, you now have a really nice one by the sound of it. Really pleased for you.
