Unbelievable. Literally bought a new estate (to me) on Monday

I’d have snapped your hand off for a Melbourne touring

Sod’s Law

It looks like a great car.

Is it me or is there a real correlation between Z4 owners and estate car owners? Like we're sensible enough to know what loads of others don;t - if you want a fun car get a fun car and if you want a practical one get a practical one... the stuff that is neither (saloons, big coupes), naaaah.

I agree completely - my sensible estate car is a manual 450hp NA V8 that revs to 8500rpm and sounds like thunder :D

So I am on the verge of cancelling the order for this car and telling them to shove it, as I am getting nowhere.
Almost four weeks since order (when I was told delivery would be in 2-3 weeks) and I have no idea what is going on; when (or even if) I am getting the car and I'm fed up with chasing people who never respond or just give me waffle and don't do anything.
I know the car is at a dealership, and has been for two weeks. I have a reg number for the vehicle but it hasn't been registered. I have had no contact from VWFS so have done no paperwork, despite being told it would be sorted a week a go.
I have phoned the leasing broker, twice, and got nowhere. I even phoned the dealership on Monday to see if they knew what was going on. Someone was going to call me back....but of course haven't.

Ive been pondering a switch of the Z4M for an RS4 B7 or RS6 C7. 2 dogs and a kid the Z4M unfortunately its sitting in the garage almost indefinitely as im very rarely without either dogs, wife or child

Driving it 5 miles to football every week also seems a bit of a waste.

Like you ive been considering an EV9 on lease for the family car as I also have my own business and the deals are good, swapping the Z for something fun that I can take to shows but able to fit the whole family. The Clubman JCW is incredibly tight with all the family and luggage.

Always been an estate fan. My dad had an E36 323i touring in Atlantis blue apparently incredibly rare as an individual colour only 5 E36 touring made.

It wasnt slammed but he had all the M3 bits put on it as it was so easy in this gen to make your more standard car look like an M car.

Less than five minutes after me sending the lease brokers a snotty email and threatening to cancel, I got all the documents emailed through.
If I was a cynic I would not believe the coincidence.
And of course they blamed someone else (VWFS this time) for the delay.

IMHO that level of customer service deserves a cancellation. In your position I'd feel obliged to cancel even if I feared that I'd end up having to spend more on a less good car.

We get treated like we're nothing by companies all the time... but when they treat you like that when you're trying to give them tens of thousands of pounds in one transaction they really deserve bankruptcy.

Cancel. They deserve it.

Yep, agreed.

Funny thing was that I left a bad review of my Audi from 7 years ago and I got a response from Audi a month ago

Principles! We have to fight back against bad service!
I agree totally. Problem is if I didn't buy stuff because of poor customer service. bad attitudes and poorly run businesses, I would end up with nothing.
My sub-contractors (who I make a living from) are all shite, but I have to put up with it. I have tried 'educating' them many, many times but it falls on deaf ears, cos generally people couldn't give a toss anymore. I spend most of my work life apologising to my customers and making (false) excuses. It doesn't sit well with me, but I am powerless. Other than retiring which is no better, just giving in.

I'm lucky - I'm not too materialistic and other than food and drink most things I want make sense to buy second hand. Share your frustrations with regards running a business, although at the minute mine is just me. Best way. I have had help in the past.

Two weeks on from my last rant about this car and guess what......still no further forward.
They have had all the (correct) paperwork for over a week, the car is registered and taxed but I still have no idea when, or if, they are going to let me pay them to lease it to me. :x

I am not going to chase anybody anymore as I just can't be bothered. I really want to tell them to stick their car where the sun don't shine, but it won't help me and I get the distinct impression no-one else will care.

I have leased many cars over the years but have never had this kind of apathy, or lack of service, before. Maybe it's just the 'new normal'?

I dunno, but I do know it is starting to really piss me off. It's a bloody good job no-one wants to buy my F31, or I could have had to drive my daughter's Mini for weeks now. And that isn't fun, either.

Not sure if all this is deliberate or not. I know someone who has also been messed around for weeks and weeks waiting on their new car and it has been so long that the payment agreement had to be changed.

We had exactly the same problem at the beginning of this year, the other half had ordered a new model Toyota, waited ages for it and she had to chase for information on delivery (even though they have an app that tells you where its at within the production/delivery process - seems to disappear once it arrives in the uk!). The day came, someone else was picking up their new car, all nice and warm in the showroom... ours was outside in a hail storm with the windows open! Then there was a problem with the paperwork, they tried to change the financial agreement/ part ex value due to the delay in delivery! I told her to walk, then arrived the dealer principal and it got sorted (poor guy got both barrels). I sold new cars (like a million years ago now) and couldn't believe how bad they were regarding communication/delivery/customer service.

Not an estate but still a great car, good for big dogs, kids and towing. I miss my Vauxhall Zafira, bought when 3 years old and sold when I got the zed 3 years ago

After much complaining, threatening and signing of pointless forms (to cover any legal comeback I presume) my new Audrey is due to be delivered on Monday 25th November. It had better be good! :!:

I have leased loads of cars in the past and none have been as difficult as this one. Sign of the times, or a sign of me getting old and grumpy? Or both? :?

Probably a bit of both, but if it hadn't been as difficult you probably wouldn't have become (as) grumpy.

I hope Audrey is as good as you hope - I'd have kept the F31 for more than a year!

As I keep reminding my wife "I never used to be this grumpy. Life has made me this way"
