Back box muffler gone

I recently picked up a 2006 roadster.....N52, AT; 140k miles. The previous owner deleted the rear muffler (back box?). The sound/drone is not to my liking.
Outside of obtaining and re-installing an oem muffler, are there any good options to lower the volume? I'm wondering if a dual in/dual out muffler will fit in the middle of the car, downstream from the secondary cats/resonators.
Thanks

Being in the same position myself I would advise sourcing an OEM backbox. I made the mistake of taking my car to (Fastlane Styling in Romford who the previous owner used to delete the back box) and asked them to fit an aftermarket backbox to make it as close to OEM as possible. They assured me it would be much much quieter and fitted their biggest backbox for £250. It looked nice but the sound was effectively unchanged from straight-through pipes (the back box delete) and in fact it was even a little more boomy!

Unable to put up with the strain on my ears I managed to source a second hand box from a user on here. I haven't fitted it yet but it weighs a lot, i would estimate about 15kg. This is the key thing, even the quiestest aftermarket box will be lightweight and still effectively a straight through pipe whereas the OEM silencer will have baffles and much better sounds absorbing properties.

If I were you I would put a standard box back on and do the engine sound generator mod. This way your car will be nice and gentle on your ears but you'll still get a nice growl from the engine at high revs with no exhaust boom to drown it out.

Good luck whatever you decide.

I bought a new stainless CAT back system off Gravity. Bought it off Ebay as there was a discount code knocking £75 off, which brought the price down to £299.99
I have booked my car in with my garage and they are fitting the system for me tomorrow, Thursday. I have took a video of the exhaust note before I took the car in, and will take a video of the new exhaust once fitted. I'm hoping it isn't too loud lol
