Back box delete causing damage to engine?

Hey guys, had my back box delete done a few weeks ago, pretty please with it other than it's gotten louder and louder but hey it's £50 so can't complain :p my worry is a mate of mine booked in to get the same done on his 330 and someone he knows started to put him off by telling him it will cause damage to his engine due to the loss in back preasure and cause the valves to burn? Now I can understand and appreciate a small loss in power from the mod but didn't think any sort or actual damage would be caused by this mod as it's not like a turbo'd engine which needs the back preasure to run properly any one shed one light on it as iv read a few people online saying about it yet iv not seen anyone on here have any problems so far? Just a little paranoid as typically my car just flashed up requiring oil when I only have it some about 3 weeks ago cheers guys

unless you've moved the CAT and you're running a turbo, backpressure is of no concern.

the only thing it'll affect is the scavenging affect.. which may account for a couple of hp loss if it's too low, but really..

guessing you're mate has a 33d?

You will only suffer a loss in back-pressure, which will affect torque production low down. It will flow better at the top end of the revband, meaning you may actually gain a couple of ponies from letting the engine breathe better, but the power delivery will likely be more peaky, meaning you'll have to work harder and be higher in the revs to be getting the most out of the engine.
That being said, (and I'm straying outside my knowledge band here...) you may actually find that the Valvetronic thing can modify the lift and duration of the cams, and in so doing negate the detrimental effects of the reduction in back-pressure.

More investigation required! But in summary you wont damage anything apart from your ears with the back-box chop!
