I'm getting all exited, it's just like Christmas. Finally getting My baby back this evening after her being in the body shop for a week getting the damage repaired from the vandalism will have a new bonnet and both front wings have been resprayed to blend and the boot repaired, spoke to the shop manager this afternoon and he said it is looking sweet. I don't think i was this exited when i first bought it.

Having just read this back i really do sound like a sad old fart. But i care not as i now have an excuse to start polishing protecting and waxing her again which translated means less time i have to spend in the house pretending i am interested in my wifes work (Banking) :x

:)

Good to hear!

I unfortunately can sometimes go a couple of weeks between driving my Z4, so I tend to get excited driving it anytime. Now that is sad...

(oh, and BTW banking is never interesting - I know, my dad worked in one for 32 years and gave up discussing it with us at home)

Perhaps you should try polishing protecting and waxing the wife.

That is done on an "as and when required" basis, roughly once a year.

Picked car up at about 4.45 it was raining so couldn't give it a really good once over, Colour matching looked fine and initialy looked like a real nice job, Got her home and the sun came out, gave her a quick wash and dry to reveal that after painting the bonnet they had also polished it, which i Specifically asked them not to do :x

Every one thinks i am a bit mad when asking garages not to wash or polish my car, However I have now been prooved right. Whoever the Muppet was that polished it not only used dirty pads as it is now swirl heaven and also went to the bother of hologramming not only the entire bonnet but also the boot and both front wings, There are approximatly 10 blemishes in the paint which will blister and rust. So in essence they took a brand new bonnet and made it look 10 years old.
Wonder what I will be doing at 9am on Monday. :telloff: :telloff: :telloff:

Got my Jeep rammed by some idiot in Dubai the other week, rear wing a mess. Took it to the local Jeep garage - 4 days and now back in totally 'as new' condition. Why can they do a good job here? Coz the boys in the garage need the job and the money to send back to their families in India, Pakistan.... , it's in their own interests to get it right first time. UK - well i.m.o. it's a can't be bothered culture/attitude, if I dont do a good job who cares, if I get threatened with the sack the Union will step in etc etc. AND if I do get the sack the state will give loads of free dosh.'

Is that whiplash that causes that stutter? :D

Nosa - sorry about that trouble, but when you said it went to an "approved insurance body shop", I always think cheap and nasty.

I have only had repairs done by the BMW dealer and have been 100% satisfied with the standard that I have received (on the X5 - never on the Z fortunately).

Yup. Lesson learnt. Will be asking for the bonnet to be resprayed and NOT polished, they can either get a pro detailer to correct the paint on the other panels or Reimburse me and I will do it. Quite shocking I think when a novice detailer (me) knows he can do a better job than a body shop.
