:thumbsdown:Horrible, I read it on BBC new website. It's terrible what people do to their own children, and I don't necessarily think there is more happening of it than used to. Also, the reason is not always as clear cut as it first seems and it is very easy to judge if we don't know the full circumstances. My friend killed herself and her two children two years ago, and since then I have been less quick to condemn than I used to be as there is often a lot more to it when you start to find out more.
BBC News piece : Meanwhile, a police officer in Jinhua told Agence France-Presse that the baby's unmarried mother had hidden her pregnancy.
The baby fell into the toilet after she unexpectedly gave birth, the officer said.
"The woman was on the scene during the entire rescue process... and admitted [she was the mother] when we asked her," he told AFP.
He said police were still investigating whether "she had any malicious intentions" before deciding if charges should be filed. There was still no information on the baby's father, he said.
