Finally got round to getting the roof on today, fitted new hydraulic line (cheers Mike) moved motor to boot topped up fluid pressed up button, after a few moments whirr, whirr click she's alive up and down with awesomeness
Then up stop, whirr nothing, horrible smell of hydraulic fluid and a big puddle of fluid out of the right hand drain hole
Looks like another hose has gone.........

Oh well at least I know how to get the roof of now

Sorry to hear of your pain. :(

But as you say, at least you know how to do it now - hope the fix goes well.

On the other hand that could be a result - a failure at the other end of the pipe would have filled your boot with hydraulic oil now you've moved the pump and that would have been a bu**er to clean. At least this way you've got a coating of oil protecting the drain area and a bit of detergent will disperse it off the floor

I'm wondering if this could simply be you didn't seal/attach the new pipe properly so although a pain will be a cheap fix. Or that you also have a bad hydraulic ram. What happened to your original pipe OP, was it corrosion? If so I'm wondering if the ram suffered the same and although the pipe was initially the weak leak once replaced the ram became the weak spot.

Driver's side bottom? That's normally the first to go... The fitting, which is mild steel, corrodes through as it takes a lot less water on that side to get it submerged.

I have a couple here.

You don't need to remove the roof to fit it.
