B-Pillor sensor fail.

Yes another one. It must be the season for the airbag sensor failures looking on here. Cars failed the MOT for it and already so off the road atm. Had 2 front shockers replaced on the MOT but now struggling to get a replacement sensor. Anyone on here got a LH B-Pillor sensor part No 65776974366. Obviously the car is off the road until I can resolve. I am located in North Lincolnshire anyone with a part in the area. I do have a list of other part No's that will supposably fit.

[ref]bigwinn[/ref] is just below Lincoln. He's your closest, so try him first.
If not, start calculating your mileage to NR17

Do you know what the codes are? Or are you making an assumption?
Is it wet under the carpet?

Yes underlay sponge is soaked got wet vac in there this morning. My local garage did not provide the code but said it was the B-pillor. Have got the old sensor stopped out and in the airing cupboard at the moment in hope something will dry out 🤞🏻as can’t see any physical damage to the board. Local garage can’t recode so will try bigwinn. Thanks for that.

Get some contact cleaner into the plug on the loom. If it corroded in there it’s a sod to sort out

how do they actually go bad? I had a look at mine and it looked perfect with no badness to be seen.

Damp! Almost every time.
Once the moisture gets inside you're stuffed.
The issue with the plug on the loom side is that the pins are only about 1mm across but they are hollow and the pins on the module go inside them. So once gunk gets inside there the chances of cleaning it out are minimal. I did try on a centre module once, but gave up and ended up splicing in a replacement plug and section of loom.

The other thing that upsets centre modules (SIM85) is jump starts. Don't do it! Inside that unit are two miniature coils that adjust the voltage supply to some of the pcb components. The spike from a jump start can kill them. Then you're looking at a minimum of £200 for a replacement secondhand SIM85, plus the cost of stripping out the centre console, replacing it and coding it in. One I sorted recently had been told by a BMW dealer "let's start at £1k and see how we go!!!!"

That’s perfectly understandable. No worries at all. Stuart will sort you out and is much closer

Well after 4 days of drying the passenger side carpet out thoroughly with wet vac and hairdryer and a visit today by bigwinn with a replacement sensor worked his programming magic the dreaded airbag light is out 🥳🎉 a big thanks to bigwinn a thanks to enuff_zed for the sensor supply 👏👏👏. Cheers all.

Of course you need to stop the water coming back in again or in a few months time you'll be having the same issue again.

Put the module in a poly bag with a silica gel sachet and seal it up tight.
Not a bad suggestion for everyone before they fail
