P0015 Explanation Camshaft actuator failure. Probable cause Mechanical timing condition.

So I've searched all over google and different forums but I can't find much about this. I'm going to replace the sensors (lovely 128$ for 2 of them :( ) But I'm worried that's not going to fix the problem. It does stall out when I slow down for a stop light and it has trouble starting sometimes. I swear the engine ticks louder than it used to, which worries me. Does anyone know where the sensor is on a 2006 3.0i? I'm a noob but I'm trying to keep my baby running, I'm between jobs and I don't have 700$ for a shop to fix it. Please help!!

From what you typed , it sounds like a mechanical failure of a valve actuator ....needs investigating properly

I wouldnt drive it untill its been looked at , just in case
