Its just as well it drives well as it's not Bmw's finest moment on a looks level Tim ,
What mileage do you expect to cover while you have it ? I know your Z was tucked up for the winter but are you running this all year ?

Still fugly
had to look that up

But, yes, you're right, there are better looking cars
The best thing about it is you can't see it while you are driving.

Just don't drive past any large mirrored windows ;)

Its tucked away at the mo Mr Wilks but as I'm parting with the Z3 in a few months it'll be an all year rounder :o Might even invest in some winter wheels come next Autumn :driving:

In terms of fuglyness it is hard to compare to the Zed, its not a car I look back at once parked up but for me it drives alot nicer than my old Zed and you can't deny performance for the pound :D

Dislikes are few excepting the boy racer community, probably why I spend more time on here :)

Great cars, shame they never offered the xDrive version in the UK as I think it would be even more popular.

Looks are very subjective but I quite like it.

I'm guessing BMW think the M135i is a bit if niche car as they offer xdrive on the other 1 Series models, missed a trick there I reckon.

I really don't mind the looks, for a hatch at least its different compared to the mainstream but end of the day its a hatchback :)

People who have them all seem to like them - and as stated looks are subjective.

As my Dad used to say "You don't have to look at the mantle piece while stoking the fire".

Obviously applies to fugly women but the same principles apply to cars

Looks are subjective but they always appear to me that BMW just fitted the front end of their much bigger models instead of restyling the 1 down :?
The lights look way to big for the car & the latest design front grill & bonnet across the Bm range does nothing for me stylewise & for that matter nor does the MB who have managed to take a nicely styled car (C & E from 4/5 yrs ) & made it uglier :o why ?

Don't worry, they've improved the front but now ruined the rear

I think the current generation 1 series hatch is much better looking than the previous version however both previous and current are very nice places to be. I loved my E88 1 series convertibles and never considered a hatch on the looks but when I sat in one I realised why it sold as it did. It is a great car and comfortable too. Could do a lot worse.

Maybe with the facelift due in March we may see the xDrive get into the ///M135i. I'D defo consider one and did look at one before I made the switch to the E89

even the back end OG ???

Yes Rob, I do. I reckon it's a lot better looking now than the Golf and A3. I was watching that Golf R v M235i video the other day that ink$ embedded and much as I admire the Golf R as a package it did look a characterless square box.

Like or loathe the 1er, at least the design provokes strong opinions. Not something you can accuse its rivals in VAG of doing. Seat's are the best looking product in that stable (excluding Porsche who have been allowed to continue without too much interference from the parent company so far).

just seems a pity they changed the rear end - as there wasn't a lot wrong with the last one

Ah I like it. It's got 6-series style rear lights which I think look good. The only questionable bit is that slab of grey at the bottom. It looks a bit meatier.
