Lot of effort to lift front and back of the car and I still don’t know how you would spray straight up without laying under the car :lol:

Does seem like any E85 that’s used all year round and not garaged is open to pretty bad corrosion underneath when compared to E89s…

Look at the Z3 for even more rust / corrosion..they are mobile batteries..

Personally I think a car d’arn sarf is more likely to corrode due to warmer climate, more salt on roads..

You have never owned one, how do you know? I have a Z3 with absolutely no rot whatsoever. And it hasn't been kept away from UK roads all it's life.

I was struggling with the warmer climate and salt bit :lol:

Just need a bit of Southern France climate to protect the cars, give it a few years of global warming and we will be there 8)

Electrolytic corrosion is a function of the concentration of corroding chemicals and temperature…

The higher the temperature the greater the rate of corrosion..

That’s why cars at the seaside corrode faster..high concentrations of salt and typically relatively warm…

Most chemical reactions are quite sensitive to changes in temperature.

Predicted density of traffic a criteria for risk mitigation…more traffic in England..hence more use of salt..

1.4 million tons of salt used in total for the UK
740000 tons of salt used in Scotland

So 50% in Scotland.

15% of the road network is in Scotland, so basically 50% of the UK total salt use is on 15% of the road network.

No need to get tetchy…

I would assume it’s generally accepted that early designs of cars had less corrosion protection , in part through lack of foresight in design and a high ferrous content..later designs use much more plastic, alloys and better protection to areas where corrosion could start, and of course earlier cars are older so even if there was parity in materials and design they would be corroding more..

You yourself said how many rotten Z3s you’ve seen, and judging by the forums it seems a major issue..

Just bought and returned this deathtrap.

Rumbling, from rear and front wheels, dodgy broken random steering, rusted underside and right wing.

Corroded brake lines sprayed with silver paint to obscure it.

Rotten rear and front suspension and driveshafts. Subframe rusted beyond belief.

Engine noisy idle. Valves never been adjusted. No hot air from heating even after 45mins driving. Warm or cold at best.

10 owners.

This dealer cannot be trusted. He's been reported to all dvla, motor ombudsman etc.

Guys a slimey conman. You've been warned.

I wonder what happened to this car next? Perhaps the dealer is rectifying the issues and will re advertise soon. Or maybe he will trade it on. Has anyone seen it advertised?
