These have been installed on the A5104 Llandegla to the A5 at Corwen. These are the first in N Wales as far as I am aware,a sign of things to come.

Over what distance? What is the speed limit?
We have several in Cornwall. But hey are all located in villages at 30mph limit. I have no problem with that at all. :)

when did that happen? I was up there on Friday. didn't see any cameras? ooooppppsssss

We used that stretch of road yesterday and they were up.Funny you missed them as the poles are bright yellow.

It's a mixture of 40 and 50 mph.The distance is about 9 Miles .

I have never seen an average speed camera in 30 limits though, always at 40 - 50 only. Drives me mad.

I'd be intrigued what the tolerances are on the average ones compared to normal. I've never quite understood how being so focused on your speedo rather than the road makes things safer?

tolerances now CAN be down to... zero. as in, no tolerance.

it's up to the local authority who they fine and what tolerance they allow. avg cameras are fine, they just need to be clearly signed, and sensical. they don't typically deploy them without reason (ie, past incidents)

i know a guy who got speed awareness course for 61 in a 60, and my mrs managed 3 points + £100 in a 70 doing 92, if they swapped counties she'd be in jail and he'd not of received anything in the post.

Jailbird springs to mind? Ok, will get my coat ..

Speed limits and the punishments are a strange thing, I drive more in Europe nowadays than in the UK, but it is strange that nothing changes on the road and suddenly the speed limit goes up because you entered a different country. Even weirder when you cross into Germany that you suddenly go from the risk of a huge fine to nothing, just because you crossed an invisible line somewhere.

Why is this 'excuse' trotted out so many times? Why do you have to be focussed on your speedo. It's hardly difficult to glance at the speedo every 10 seconds in an average speed zone, and they're usually not on roads that you have to keep your eye open for lots of hazards. It's like saying you can't look in your mirrors as you're too busy looking out the windscreen.

I can't believe people who get caught claiming they didn't know the speed limit either. If you want to take the chance (like I do, often) of driving above what you consider an artificially low limit, then take your punishment when you get caught. In all but one case when I've been caught, I can say that I have known what the limit was that I was breaking, and that one case was where a 70mph limit had recently been changed to 60mph, but only in one direction - the other direction was 40mph, and at 2am in the morning I wasn't really looking at the speed on the new repeaters (but that was over 20 years ago).

The first one is just past the roundabout we're you turn for the horseshoe pass.

In Lodon I would say a good 50-60% of the roads are now 20mph with speeds bumps, other roads feeding into and out of london have the avg speed camers A40/North Circular etc.. Then we have the road narrowing schemes that are going on EVERYEHERE, that has caused gridlock most days, only they know how turning the embankment into 1 lane each way instead of 2 would "Improve" traffic flow (seriously that was actually said!!)

Now they have created the gridlock which obviously increases polultion they impliment the Toxic charge for any cars built before 2006, again this is well thought out because we all know that cars like (2005) fiesta/micra/etc produce vast amount of toxic fumes that are killing the kids (notice the use of the emotive "kids" word there :) )

I better stop now or I will get into a real rant about the way this city is run (or being ruined).....

Do you need some part-worns and a gallon of petrol :P

Nipped up in the stag. First pole being fitted just after Rhydtalog. Turned right at Llandegla and didn't see another pole (or camera) so I guess if theres one at the roundabout that'll be the pair.

Stupid council to put an average speed trap with traffic lights in the middle.

Should have saved their cash and filled in some potholes instead. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

You've obviously not driven through Nottingham PVR

Nope - never been there

I am sure they will spread like wildfire all over the country.
